Wings spotted cannot fly for long. At least, body inclined at an angle of 45 degree to surface. Clubbate palps in the male. Scutellum is evenly rounded. Transmits malarial parasites. Eggs laid horizontally and singly on water surface. Boat shaped. Each egg has two lateral air floats which help in floatation. Usually, 40-100 eggs laid in fresh and clean water. Larvae surface feeders. During intake of air head lies horizontally, parallel with water surface, with palmate hairs on abdomen. Respiratory siphon exceedingly short. Pupae green with shorter respiratory trumpets, has palmate hairs. Each paddle bears, a long and a short hair. DISTRIBUTION: All over world PART USED: Whole body. HOMEOPATHY Cramps. Edema. Flatus.
