I've joined The Wandering Band to do the sound design and audio implementation for Airborne Empire: their city-builder in the sky, and they're letting me share footage and my sound design process with all of you! I'm tackling my first iterations of our combat since their previous game, Airborne Kingdom, didn't have any combat. What you'll hear below are first passes at plane movement loops, planes firing gunshots, and the player's cannons firing. Scoping the game let us determine that all enemy combat should sound derelict and decrepit; these pirates are not maintaining their weapons, so they're falling apart. That's why the planes have some unexpected layers for their movement: two tennis ball machines on the fritz, a fog machine firing, and a steady fire burning. The game is still in development and these sound effects are in their infancy, so plenty will change moving forward! #sounddesign #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev #sounddesigner #gameaudio #madewithunity #soundeffects #sounden
