Following the publication of our open letter this morning, my brother Manuel and I were invited to speak about one of our important ask for the governments of Canada and Quebec to establish better measures for displaced Haitians. In 2023, Québec was the only province to decline participation in a new federal program aimed at welcoming 11,000 nationals from Haiti, Venezuela and Colombia. With this letter, we formally appealed to the Québec government to reconsider this decision in light of current issues. We also advocate for a revision of the family reunification process by both levels of government to reduce waiting times and facilitate applications from members of the Haitian community. Thank you Phil Carpenter for giving us a platform on Global News tonight. Let us all remind our elected officials of their power and obligations towards preserving our shared humanity!
