This was an insightful read to understand the trends in giving in India, as I work on the philanthropic trends across the globe, especially in the domain of women's empowerment at Women's World Banking. There are 3 ways that India's philanthropic giving can multiply its 'impact' and learn from the global funding movement; 1. Trust based philanthropy which requires multi-year funding with a focus on outcomes rather than results (Investing in talent and organizational capacity) 2. Pushing the climate lens in existing areas of intervention in education, health, livelihoods etc. (While ensuring that communities are not burdened by the climate interventions) 3. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as an important component of giving - who is being funded and where (Democratization of giving while reaching the people who need it the most) The challenges highlighted in the report can definitely be navigated with a coherent approach at giving practices and integrating the above learnings. #philanthropy #givingtrends #funding

Today in Brussels, Philea - Philanthropy Europe Association unveiled the 2024 edition of the European Philanthropy Manifesto, which includes four key recommendations to establish a Single Market for Philanthropy: 1️⃣ Empower philanthropy by creating enabling frameworks in line with the fundamental rights of the freedom of association and movement of capital 2️⃣ Facilitate cross-border philanthropy by removing barriers that cost the sector €100 million annually and prevent work on pressing societal challenges that do not stop at borders 3️⃣ Engage with philanthropy by better implementing Article 11 of the Treaty on European Union 4️⃣ Partner with philanthropy for public good by creating more opportunities in strategic programme design, co-granting and in creating incentives for co-investing from endowments - mobilising the untapped potential of billions of euros.
