The 2010 symposium on "The Levantines: Past, Present, Future" stimulated the formation of the Levantine Heritage Foundation. The programme covered both the broad regional and international context of 19th century Levantine communities, as well as accounts of some of the families and businesses, including the Oriental Carpet Manufacturing Company.
