So the kids go back this week as a million parental voices in unison scream hallelujah....So I suppose I should be posting about that this morning, but I'm not - I'm going to talk about "Amazon" dropping the ball.... It is well documented that I have had a chequered history with Amazon. In the old house I had a 50:50 chance of actually receiving something I ordered, but I have to admit, lately, I kinda like it. Well last week my Wife ordered some travel socket adapters for our upcoming holiday and to save delivery costs we had them sent to a local collection point - for free. But Emma, never recieved her notification to say they'd arrived, and she only realised as she checked her account found they had been delivered. Hmm. A glitch? Has Emma changed a setting? Dunno, but it didn't cause too much hardship - we collected them with a day to spare and went on with our lives. But it's happened again. This time to me - I ordered a book for the plane in a few weeks time, to be sent to the same collection point (again to save the delivery cost) and again, no notification that it was delivered yesterday. So have Amazon changed a setting? Have they changed a procedure? Is there a glitch? But it's not good. For all us business owners, client expectations are everything. The service we deliver to our clients should be top notch, and we should deliver to those expectations 100% of the time - fail, and we'll look elsewhere. So as a tip to start September - check your processes. Can they be made better. And are the bomb proof?

There is a day for everything now... And some of those days are great for highlighting important causes But there are also lots of silly/pointless ones. This week alone we have (among many others) - - National Caviar Day - National Sour Candy Day - World Jump Day - National Gorgeous Grandma Day - International Yada Yada Yada Day - (my favourite) Take Your Houseplant For A Walk Day But I heard an advert for the most ridiculous one yet - Amazon Prime Day. Some reasons why I think Amazon Prime Day is ridiculous - - The "day" lasts for 2 days - Most people can probably wait more than a day for something to be delivered - If they can't, they should probably plan better, do without, or go to a local shop - It promotes further unnecessary consumerism, when it is now pretty clear that consumerism is terrible for people and planet - Amazon probably pay less tax than I do (no need to #factcheck this...) - Making over £12,000,000 in PROFIT per day - They stole their name from a thing of beauty - And then became an evil corporation - Giving very little back to the world - Except firing an egocentric maniac into space... but then they brought him back If you're still supporting Amazon (making the world a worse place for ALL people and nature) then please stop Shop locally. She said Yes!! Ok admit the hook worked 😁. Not the yes you are thinking of (although it did happen a while back). I'm talking about the rep at Amazon when I chatted with her. I had a pair of shoes I bought 9 months ago (not my 17 pair) and never tried them on until yesterday. They were too small although I always wear Ecco Size 45 (btw best shoes out there 😀😀). The return window was waaaaaayyyy over and I was just about resigned to losing my money. No one likes to lose money just like that so I figured let me ask if I can still return the shoes. Much to my surprise SHE SAID YES!! 🎉🎊🎈. Lesson learnt: * When you buy something try it own right away * Amazon can be addictive * If you don't ask the answer is always NO! TL;DR - There are lessons we can learn in every day happenings. - Gotta ask and don't assume there is no solution. Have you been surprised with an answer when you asked a question?? P. S. You are allowed to ask for help too ☺️
