CHALLENGING THE LATIN: REDEFINING“INSATIABLE”

CHALLENGING THE LATIN: REDEFINING“INSATIABLE”

In·sa·tia·ble [adjective]

In Latin, it literally means "not to be satisfied".

Ironically, I don’t feel these four words are enough to describe the intensity of this nature.

As the founder of Insatiable Leaders® I have taken the liberty to update this definition to give it the depth and variability that it entails for these leaders.

In·sa·tia·ble [still an adjective; here until we agree]

  1. On an ongoing quest to constantly figure out who they are, what they want and where they want to go to access and exceed their potential.
  2. Eager to dedicate themselves to lead unique initiatives to serve and inspire others.
  3. With a treadmill mind, generating ideas and considering what to create, learn and explore next.
  4. In a state of perpetual hunger because they're always 10 steps behind where they would like to be.
  5. With too many aspirations, desires and plans- sometimes contradictory- that make them feel that they are always compromising on something that is important to them.
  6. With powerful minds, that are creative and critical at the same time, so they end up surviving in an uneasy balance between an exciting world of possibilities and a world of tremendous self-doubt.
  7. In limbo, feeling that they are NOT ENOUGH but at the same time that they are TOO much – too high energy, too driven, too ambitious.
  8. Fearing that that their needs, ideas and personality are sometimes so intense, that if expressed people won’t understand them.

[Insatiable as I am, I’ve included 8 wordy points; because if I’m going to challenge the Latin, I do it properly].

Insatiable Leaders.

You know who you are.

You dream BIG.

Yet, you sense there is something fundamentally wrong in what you are doing, or in what you are chasing.

Deep down, you think there is something about you that needs to change.

And that’s why you want to hide.

But I cannot ignore you.

Because to me, you are a GENIUS.

You blow my mind with your ideas, inspiration, multiple talents, and the courage you have to question your limits and surpass them.

However, I know how overwhelming it is to have a mind that works with such speed and intensity as ours. There are so many things we want to pursue, so quickly and at the highest standards, that we end up being stuck, frustrated, burnout, drained and/or unfulfilled.

This has been me over the last 4 months, aiming to explain in a blog what being insatiable means. I wanted to make it “simple” and “succinct”; and this moved me away from the depth and intensity of my insatiable nature. I was triggered by points 5,6,7 and 8 above and I was trying to change myself to adapt to what others might like to read.

But I know I’m not the only one feeling like this…

Are you sometimes making yourself into the person you think you need to be to perform, to get ahead, to progress, to be liked? That you are holding back a part of yourself.

The very part that makes you unique, energised, creative and alive.

Because that is the very part that if not nurtured, will keep you in a state of perpetual hunger.

And that is the very part that I want to draw out of you.

I stopped hiding because I want to share with you my insights and knowledge from coaching Insatiable Leaders and my own journey.

That you understand your insatiability and leverage your full range of experience, talents, energy and ideas to serve you in whatever you choose to pursue next.

Without compromising your aspirations, or personality.

Because, let’s give yourself a moment to brag, you’re too fascinating to hide who you are.

So let’s play.

And in the meantime… tell me which other points we should include in the updated definition?!

Be insatiable,

Susana
