Differences Between CUSTOMERS AND CONSUMERS

Customers and consumers seem to be similar in terms of their role, which is to purchase and use the product/ services they choose. Before we proceed with the main topic, let's get to know the definition of customers and consumers.

Definition of Customers

Customers can be defined as a person who spend their money on the product(s) /subscribes to any service(s) that they choose. For example, Matdri spends about $10 on a pair of sneakers to use for his school marathon.

Definition of Consumers

Consumers are the person that uses the product/ services with or without spending their money. They can be the end-user for the product/service. For example, Michael is wearing a watch given by his father on his birthday without him spending any cash but he became an end-user by wearing the watch.

And that is the definition of Consumer and Customer. Now , let's get to know what the differences between these terms.


1.Purchasing a product

Customers can be the only person that confirms to buy/purchase a product /services that they desired.

While consumers, maybe or not purchase the product/subscribe to the services that they desired, they will be the end-user.


2. Resell a product

Customers are able to resell the product that they have purchased as it still has the tangibility(which means it can be seen and touched).

As for consumers, they are not able to resell it because they are going to consume it for personal purposes only for them.


3.Payment obligation

For customers, they must pay the required amount of price for the product/services that they want to acquire / use.

As for consumers, they may need / not need to pay for the product /services that they want, but they can get it for free, or someone give to them (e.g. parents, friends)


Conclusion

All in all, Consumer and customer do have their differences in terms of purchasing a product, resell a product , and payment obligation. Although they have some differences, but the similarity between these two words is a person use a product for their own purposes.
