Eucalyptus oil to solve salpingitis disease of laying hens

Salpingitis is a common disease in laying hens, and it is easy to arises at the peak of laying. It is characterized by salpingitis and peritonitis. Because of its various clinical manifestations, it causes the laying rate to decrease, no laying peak, and produce poor quality eggs, such as thin shell eggs, soft shell eggs, preserved eggs, malformed eggs, white eggs, and small eggs are the main features. The cause of the disease is relatively complex and is one of the most common diseases that threaten the healthy development of the chicken industry.

The reasons of salpingitisThe hygienic conditions in the poultry house are too poor. The cloaca is contaminated by bacteria (such as Salmonella typhimurium, Paratyphoid bacillus, Escherichia coli) and invades the fallopian tube. And the E. coli in drinking water exceeds the standard, which is the main cause of the disease. If the animal feed is too much, it will cause the overproduction of eggs or double yellow eggs, and sometimes eggshells can rupture in the fallopian tubes, damage to the fallopian tubes, causing disease. If the feed is lack of vitamin A, D, E, it can cause salpingitis and leading to parasites exist. Secondary: When the flock breaks out a strong infectious virus disease (Newcastle disease and flu, etc.), the body's resistance is reduced, and the disease is secondary.

The symptoms salpingitis

1. Clinical symptoms

The appearance of the chickens is normal, but the eggs are not peaked. And the crest of diseased chickens is thick and bright red, and the abdomen is drooping. The most of the diseased chickens have normal follicles. Some chickens have 6-7 mature eggs in the abdominal cavity, but there is no intact function of the fallopian tubes, thus it is impossible to lay eggs, while the other organs are not abnormal. There are blisters of different sizes in the fallopian tubes, the larger ones are more than 600 ml, and the small ones are a few milliliters. The stagnant water is a cool, colorless, transparent, odorless liquid. And some chickens have no water in the fallopian tubes, but there are blind or fallopian tubes or no fallopian tubes.

The diseased birds are mainly characterized by pain and anxiety, and the eggshells often carry blood and blood spots. Yellow and white pus-like secretions are often discharged from the fallopian tubes, contaminating the anus and feathers, making it difficult to lay eggs. With the development of the disease, the sick bird begins to catch fever, anorexia, painful and uneasy, staying still, and their two wings is drooping, feathers loosing, some abdomen on the ground or lethargic. When inflammation spread to the abdominal cavity, it can cause peritonitis, or fallopian tube rupture leading to yolk peritonitis.

2. Necropsy lesions

It is mainly follicular degeneration, deformation, congestion, hemorrhage, necrosis or atrophy, tubal being edema and thickening, and it has a large amount of secretions, peritoneal inflammation, congestion, turbidity, severe follicles fall into the abdominal cavity, forming yolk peritonitis. The intestinal and peritoneum adhesion or adhesion to the intestines and organs of the abdominal cavity occurs. The ventral cavity contains turbid liquid, malodorous or yellowish white cheese-like substance. When the yolk peritonitis is manifested, the wall of the fallopian tube becomes thinner, with a shaped egg-like substanc inside, the surface will not be smooth, and the cut surface is round.

Prevention and treatment of salpingitis

The disease is mainly based on prevention, and supplemented by treatment. We suggested that to the laying hens just started,  when the egg production rate reaches 30%-50% with the treatment of salpingitis drugs, the feed adds more high-quality vitamins to eliminate the fallopian salpingitis caused by egg production stress, and regularly use of salpingitis drugs for anti-inflammatory every month, while must choose green safe and no drug residue products. It is recommended to use Eucabiotics (eucalyptus oil) for 10 days to prevent the occurrence of salpingitis. Afterwards, use Eucabiotics for 5 days every month to protect the oviduct of the laying hen. The essential oil extracted from the leaves of Australia is rich in active substance 18-cineole, which is rich in various ingredients and synergistic and it has good effecting in killing bacteria, salmonella, and other harmful bacteria, and can prevent and treat the salpingitis of the laying hens from the root.To treat this disease, according to the specific situation, comprehensive treatment is from the three-pronged approach of disease, nutrition and management. If the chicken disease breaks out, it is mainly anti-virus, supplemented with antibacterial drugs to prevent secondary salpingitis. If it is caused by a bacterial disease, it should be based on antibacterial, anti-virus, and supplement multivitamins as appropriate. And the followed factors are nutritional factors, including calcium and phosphorus deficiency or imbalance, vitamin deficiency.
