Industrialise - Change Your Systems, Change Your Results

I want to talk to you today about why you should be industrialising your systems.

Now you may well be thinking, what does Martin mean by industrialising your systems! What I mean is how you can put something together that's repeatable, it's consistent, and you know what's going to get delivered. Also, importantly when somebody else gets hold of that process what they will do with it, and their results match your expectations.

The key with many things in business is how you can make it so that you don't have to do all the work yourself. To be able to do that you've got to be able to trust that somebody else can-do work that you need to get done, and they are also going to work to the system you prescribed. Hopefully, in some cases, they can devise a system that works even better than the one that you were thinking and planning.

Now, this still means that you must have all the elements of control around your systems and processes so that you can have the confidence that what is going to come back to you is something that you expect. Some managers and business owners I see unfortunately tend to have an approach of just abdicating their responsibility; what they do rather than putting in sound systems and processes that are systemized and industrialised, with essential measurable processes. What they do instead; is throw information to somebody else and expect them to catch it, and then expect them to do the right thing with it.
