We would feel the same way about most “new” fads as well, however, there is NOTHING NEW about The PALEO DIET! If you’re new to the PALEO DIET, then you’ve come to the right place. If you’re unsure about what the “PALEO DIET” entails and hopes to accomplish, here’s an overview of the basics: The Paleo Diet is an effort to eat like we used to back in the day… (The Paleolithic day to be exact.) The basic idea behind the PALEO DIET is; if a caveman couldn’t eat it, neither can you. While we hear stories of people trying this on their own with VERY mixed results. What is The PALEO DIET?

The PALEO DIET is based mainly on a daily routine of consuming food including vegetables, fruits, nuts, meat, some roots and other meats; while excluding foods such as dairy products, grains, sugar, processed oils, salt, and alcohol or coffee. The Paleo Diet is also based on avoiding not just modern processed foods, but rather the foods that humans began eating after the "Neolithic Revolution" when humans transitioned from hunter-gatherer lifestyles to settled agriculture.

Top 5 Myths about The PALEO DIET

  • 1: Myth: “EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS of meat”

FACT: Meat makes up only about a “palm size” amount of each meal. Approximately ½ of your plate consists of vegetables, mixed with fruits as a side dish and some healthy fats. (oils, nuts or seeds)

  • 2: Myth: “Without having dairy, there is not enough calcium in a Paleo Diet.”

FACT: We tend to fixate on how much calcium is in our diet. Without loading up on inflamatories, (Dairy) your body gets better at storing calcium in your system and bones by eating proper greens. (Spinach, broccoli, raw nuts, Kale and Okra.

  • 3: Myth - ”There is not enough Fiber in a Paleo Diet.”

FACT: While on the Paleo Diet, you will consume plenty of fiber, the healthy way. Fiber is contained in some fruits and vegetables such as Carrots, Pears, Artichokes, Yams and Raspberries; all of which are part of a balanced Paleo Diet program.

  • 4: Myth: “If you don’t follow the Paleo Diet 100% there’s no point in trying it.”

FACT: Ideally, the first 30 days should be followed so you can see the results for yourself. After that, if you feel the need to adjust your diet, you can but for long term results and benefits THAT LAST, you should follow the advice of professionals.

  • 5: Myth: “I can’t eat outside of my home.”

FACT: You can eat anywhere! When looking at a menu or choices are given to you, BE SMART! Avoid the foods that the Paleo Diet is steering you away from. If you would like a Steak, order one, just avoid “sauteed” or potatoes. If you would like chicken, simply order it grilled, roasted instead of fried. Simply put… avoid “Non-Paleo” foods!
