Trenching vs Conventional digging in Sensitive areas

Trenching vs Conventional digging in Sensitive areas

The use of Trenchers or Rocksaws is a safe, stable way to deal with hard materials on your construction site as long as safe digging practices are followed. The process begins with trenching professionals A J Gammond Ltd using rock trenching equipment to slice through layers of soil and pavement. This movement creates a symmetrical, precise trench with vertical walls that doesn't disturb any surrounding structures.

The trenching process doesn't let helpful material go to waste. You can often use the material from the trench as back fill material. The open top of the trench is symmetrical and uniform, which makes it easy to Back fill and compact.

Less noise and minimal vibration makes our Trenchers and Rocksaws ideal for operation in National  heritage or sensitive areas. Conventional methods using breakers & peckers which in effect are transmitting mini earthquakes are not an ideal solution in sensitive areas and are slow and noisy to the local environment.

Trenchers & Rock Saws are the perfect tool to use in a variety of hard materials such as Asphalt, Concrete Rock & sandstone. They slice through the materials leaving smooth, clean edges with less noise and minimal vibration to impact on the local environment.

The cutting pattern of A J Gammond Ltd Trenchers & Rocksaws shred the materials and do so with reduced vibration, perfect for excavations that require minimal environmental impact.

Vibration data at different distances from the trencher centreline were collected from five trenching projects in Northwest Ohio, USA. The data analysis suggested a moderate relationship between the vibration level and the distance from the source of vibration. In addition, the risk of damage to nearby structures dissipates significantly and quickly as the distance from the point of excavation increases.

An ideal safe distance for Rocksawing &  trenching in hard materials should not take place within 1.50 metres for buried structures and 1.00 metre for residential buildings.

Added benefits

Ø Trenchers will cut through several layers in one pass. Including cutting through rock, Asphalt & Concrete pavement, and soil. In that one pass, trenchers will excavate the spoil from the Trench either to side of Excavation or conveyed forwards into tippers for removal from site. Leaving a clean empty trench.

Ø Trenches have regular dimensions that will leave surrounding structures undisturbed.

Ø Trench walls are vertical, decreasing excavation.

Ø The trench has a flat bottom which is straight and at a measured grade.

Ø Backfilling and finishing are minimized.

Ø Spoil from the trencher is often usable as backfill material saving the project money and climate Impact.

Ø Uniform trench walls aid compaction.
