Schlecker to become “daily” in re-branding

Drug store chain Schlecker is set to undergo a re-branding in Luxembourg, and will be known as “daily” after a new owner was found for the Austrian branch of the troubled company.

(CS) Drug store chain Schlecker is set to undergo a re-branding in Luxembourg, and will be known as “daily” after a new owner was found for the Austrian branch of the troubled company.

The Austrian subsidiary of Schlecker manages stores in Austria, Poland, Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg. An agreement between the Schlecker group and restructuring company TAP 09 was signed on Monday evening.

TAP 09 plans to keep all 1,350 stores across the five countries open, as well as keeping 4,600 jobs.

The re-branding will not only include a new name, but also a new concept. The shops will no longer be drug stores specifically, but will also sell other everyday goods, in order to encourage local shopping.

What exactly will happen to the Luxembourg Schlecker shops is set to become clearer over the coming weeks.

Both the OBGL and LCGB unions in Luxembourg have said they hope that the interests of Luxembourg employees will be protected in the process.
