Haltungsinformationen

(Milne-Edwards, 1841)

Die Krusten-Seescheide ist zwischenzeitlich als Kosmopolit zu bezeichnen, die das Tier recht invasiv ist.

Es handelt sich um eine koloniebildende Seescheide, deren einzelne Zooiden ca. 0,2cm groß werden, die gesamte Größenentwicklung der Kolonie ist vom regelmäßigen Zufluss von Plankton abhängig, die Literatur gibt leider keine Koloniegrößen an.

Die Seescheide bildet weiche, gallertartige Überzüge, gerne auf harten Substraten und toten Korallenästen, man kann die Kolonie als teilweise transparent bezeichnen.
Sie kann eine Höhe von ca. 9cm erreichen und erinnert optisch an Schwämme.
