Rock Art in Argyll

The southern of the decorated outcrops near Torbhlaran bears very eroded carvings including plain cup-marks as well as cups with multiple rings. Very good lighting conditions are necessary to see the motifs.

3D Model of Torbhlaran 1 (Lion Rock) by h_fenton on Monday, 21 December 2015
(User Info | Send a Message)
3D Model of a rockart panel on the obvious southern outcrop at Torbhlaran, there is confusion over numbering of these outcrops so when excavated and in subsequent reports this rock is now referred to as Lion Rock.

This is the main panel of rock art showing showing a dense concentration of cup marks and cup-and-ring marks.

The gaps in the model is where I have removed the grass and moss as this was too detailed.

The model loads with a texture wrapped on it so you see it in full colour, although you can see the cup and ring marks I suggest also trying the Matcap rending mode by clicking on the box shape in the bottom right corner of the screen and changing the rendering mode to Matcap.

Photographed: 6 October 2015
