Leskernick SE
Leskernick SE submitted by thecaptain : Leskernick 1 stone circle seen here in its entirety, looking towards the northwest. Leskernick Hill, with its very well preserved ancient settlement is beyond, in front of which is the second Leskernick stone circle (which can be made out in the original picture). The stone row starts near the fairly large cairn, which can be seen here as the darker green mound in front of the hill, and run... (Vote or comment on this photo)
Near to the eastern edge of Bodmin Moor, north of the A30, a multitude of ancient sites can be found at Leskernick.

On the saddle of land between Leskernick Hill to the northwest and Beacon Hill to the southeast, two stone circles can be found, between then a large cairn and a long stone row leading off to the northeast.

On the slopes of Leskernick Hill are the remains of a couple of ancient settlements each with multitudes of hut circles and enclosures. There are several cairns and cists, and near the top of the hill a propped rock.

The walk out to Leskernick is fairly long, but in good conditions is fairly level and easy from Westmoorgate, but it can be very boggy in the wet while in bad visibility it would be very easy to get disoriented.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an introductory page for the whole of the Leskernick megalithic complex, there is not a separate stone circle at this location.

Ha! That will explain why I could only find two stone circles when I was looking for three. The HER entries for the two are as follows:

Leskernick SE Stone Circle: HER uid=MCO18450

Leskernick NW Stone Circle: HER uid=MCO18451

Thanks, I've updated this page to be an 'Ancient Settlement' which is a bit more vague and should cause less confusion than showing another stone circle. Cheers
