NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 20 – ST. LOUIS RAMS 17

NEW SHOW IN TOWN: Adam Vinatieri drilled a 48-yard field goal as time expired to give the Patriots their first Super Bowl title. New England led 17-3 in the fourth quarter, but the Rams, known as “The Greatest Show on Turf,” scored two touchdowns and tied the game with 1:30 to play. Tom Brady, a second-year player who had thrown only three NFL passes when the season began, completed five of six on a 53-yard drive to set up the winning field goal. It was the first Super Bowl won on the final play.
