Item Description

Clinochrysotile is a polytype of chrysotile and is no longer a valid species (Burke, 2006 - MINDAT). It is EXTREMELY RARE from this famed locale. This sculptural, resinous, bone-white cluster of fibers is richly and colorfully accented with cherry-red zincite crystals and crystal fragments. Platy colorless calcite, clusters of tiny franklinite crystals and tiny willemite crystals (green fluorescence) make for a very rare and excellent combination from the renowned Franklin Mine. The piece may contain small crystals of the ultra-rare borate, roweite, for which Franklin is the Type Locality. Undoubtably old-time material, but no proof. Ex Robert Gage and Rich Kosnar Collections. Value of such a rarity the species and locality collector???
