INSIGHTFUL ENCOURAGEMENT

If every person or organization had one need, it would be encouragement. Encouragement supports, inspires, and lifts others up. It is a gift that keeps on giving.
Some leaders lack sensitivity when it comes to meeting this need of their team, which can lead to destructive behaviors that will hinder growth and development within your organization.
Yes, you should always recognize the hard workers and those who go the extra mile. However, even the smallest contributors and those attempting to contribute deserve to be acknowledged as well. When this is done, you will develop a culture within your organization.
American scholar, author, and speaker Brené Brown said, “Those who have a strong sense of love and belonging have the courage to be imperfect.”
No person or organization will be perfect. This doesn’t mean we don’t strive for perfection. But if a person or business isn’t comfortable enough to courageously accept the imperfections, they will never be able to lead with exceptionality.
Encouragement is not just giving praise, cheering a person on, or giving a false sense of hope.
Encouragement is developing the courage of a person to grow and be who they are designed to be. Encouragement is about giving people freedom to make mistakes, but also encouraging them to learn from those mistakes. Encouragement is about resilience, enjoying life, and leaving your own positive impression with all the endeavors you are involved. Encouragement is about growth and development.
Several weeks ago, I discussed the dynamic between an eagle and her eaglets in the blog PUSH. We all need a push. It may be scary and gut wrenching, but sometimes that is the very feeling we need to do achieve the greatness we are capable to attaining. Don’t sell yourself or the people you work with short. Give everyone you know insightful encouragement. It will make you a better leader and everyone else around you better as well.
