Special Election for Iron County Sheriff To Be Held During April Municipal Elections

(Iron County) A special election to fill the unexpired term of the Iron County Sheriff will be held In April. Those wanting to file as a candidate have until February 22nd to file for the position with the county clerk.

The election is going to be Tuesday, April 2nd, the same day the municipal elections take place.

Former Sheriff Jeff Burkett officially resigned from the position last month before a trial was supposed to happen that could have removed from that position with Deputy Chuck Helton appointed by the Iron County Commission as the interim sheriff.

Burkett still faces a number of felonies from Washington County.
