BRANCHBURG — A North Branch restaurant and bar that many thought would be a lasting fixture in the area has closed for good after a dozen years of operation.
A large white sign with black letters placed on the glass entrance doors of Cryan's Ale House, at 1270 Route 28, earlier in August announced: “CRYAN’S IS CLOSED; THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!!”
A smaller orange sign affixed to a door handle just below may have summed up the loss of the eatery for so many of Cryan’s patrons.
The sign simple read: “FUNERAL.”
Many of those patrons gave condolences and expressed their remorse at the Cryan's Ale House Facebook page, where, on August 8, the restaurant's owners announced the closing.
The entry read: Cryan's Ale House would like to announce our run is officially over!!! The past 12 years have been filled with much laughter and great memories! We will miss each and everyone of you!! Thanks for all your loyalty!! Best of luck to all!!
An entry on the same page posted the following day by John and Chrissy Cryan read: Thank You to all who have worked and patronized our place. It is truly a Bitter-Sweet Ending to a place we called our 2nd home for 12 years. Thanks to the Ale House, we have made life-long friends with many people. We will never forget you and we will miss you all.
