It’s a game of he-said, she-said between Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish, but we hear it’s the 27-year-old actress who ended their relationship for good.
Although both of their reps are claiming that their client terminated the four-year union, it seems that Phillippe’s partying ways – and wandering eye – are what got him the boot from Cornish.
“Ryan wasn’t going to marry her anytime soon,” says a source. “He was constantly out and about and doing his own thing.”
We’ll say: Most recently, Phillippe was out and about in NYC, with Cornish nowhere in sight.
On Valentine’s Day, he was spotted chatting with a few femmes at a private Guns N’ Roses bash. Later in the week, he showed up solo to a William Rast after-party, vying for the attention of “SNL” star Abby Elliott.
And, as we reported yesterday, Phillippe attempted to approach supermodel Doutzen Kroes at a Calvin Klein bash on Thursday. A spy says he was willfully working the room, carrying his jacket with a cigarette tucked behind one ear. But the actor’s efforts were for nil: Kroes seemed less than interested.
A rep for Cornish had “no comment” on the cause of the breakup, but a source close to the actress says, not so cryptically: “Abbie took control of a bad situation and ended it once the truth became clear. She told him it was over as soon as she realized Ryan wasn’t taking it as seriously as she was.”
Meanwhile, a flack for Phillippe insists that his recent gallivanting in NYC was not that of an unfaithful beau, but of a bachelor.
“Ryan ended the relationship with Abbie while she was in Australia, which was before N.Y. Fashion Week, and asked her to move out of his house, which she did this weekend,” says the rep. “She was out of town working for seven months, and they grew apart.”
