Vergennes Vermont Apr 10, 2023

A recent suggestion sparked a visit to Vergennes and it didn’t take long to find inspiration for a painting. Three of them actually. I’m sharing two with you today. I’ll post the third one next time once it’s done.

The first piece, “Vergennes Vermont” depicts the vibrant downtown vibe. With so many exciting elements to play with, the challenge was to keep my enthusiasm in check, remain focused, and remember it can only be painted one mark at a time.

The second small painting, “Vergennes Falls Spring” began as a warm-up study but quickly developed into something more. Although I painted this iconic scene many years ago (in watercolor), it’s great fun and education to revisit a good subject. I really like the mood in this one… the swelling power of Otter Creek in Spring commands respect.

Love the Vergennes painting with the restaurant in the foreground. Recently had lunch with a friend from MT there. Enjoyed lunch, tea, and long conversations. Really enjoy your paintings and see this one has already been sold. Congratulations. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Hi Pete, nice painting, I knew the spot right away. Mom, Dad, Julie and I had dinner recently at the Park Squeeze pictured here in your painting. We had a good meal,if anyone remembers the Back Home Cafe in Rutland, kind of made me think of that place. Anyway, good meal, great painting, keep up the good work.
