Biology

While the Carcharodontosaurians and Allosaurids largely displaced the Megalosauroids as the dominant big terrestrial carnivores, one offshoot of the Megalosauroid line found success and refuge as semi-aquatic predators. The Spinosaurs are theropods that were trying very hard to be crocodiles. They had tall, conical teeth that were adapted for catching fish. In some spinosaurids the teeth also lack serrations. Another crocodile feature. An adaptation for spearing and holding onto fish.
