YYNOT will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sherman Theater, 524 Main St., Stroudsburg.

The band, formed in 2016, performs classic Rush tracks and “Rush-esque” original material. The group consists of: Billy Alexander, guitar, keyboards and vocals; Tim Starace, bass; Rocky Kuner, vocals; and Joel Stevenett, drums and percussion.

After being inspired by the last Rush R40 concert, Alexander, from Southern California, wrote and recorded an instrumental piece entitled “YYNOT” that captured tinges of the early Rush music that had inspired him as a child. Not long after, Alexander saw Florida-based Starace post videos of his Rush bass covers. Alexander approached Starace about forming an online collaboration by creating videos of Rush classics.

Alexander — who's played guitar for acts such as John Waite, Anna Nalick and Ron Blair of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers — recruited then-20-year-old Kuner after seeing her perform a version of Deep Purple's “Highway Star” while still in high school. Stevenett came into the fold when a member of a Rush online group suggested he and the band work together.

Formed in 1968 in Willowdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Rush — which disbanded in 2018 — featured lead vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer Neil Peart. Among its 20 studio albums are 1976's “2112” and 1981's “Moving Pictures.” The latter featured the singles “Limelight” and “Tom Sawyer.” Rush, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, scored 20 top 10 hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, including five No. 1s.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $23 day of the show. For information, call 570-420-2808 or visit shermantheater.com.
