• 90210 star Tiffani Thiessen opened up about aging and turning 50.
  • “I feel so much more at ease now than I did even 10 years ago,” she said.
  • The mom of two and cookbook author is focusing on taking care of herself from the inside out.

A lot has changed for Tiffani Thiessen since she starred in popular teen sitcoms Saved by the Bell and Beverly Hills: 90210. But it’s all for the better—in fact, on dietitian Shira Barlow’s Good Instincts podcast, the actress and cookbook author recently talked about aging and becoming her most confident self ahead of her 50th birthday.

Theissen will reach the milestone in January. “When I was turning 40, I feel like I had more personal pressure on myself to look the best I could,” she said, adding that her confidence “wasn’t 100%.”

“I feel so much more at ease now than I did even 10 years ago,” she said. “I don’t know if it’s me just not giving a sh*t.”

She also attributed her twists and turns with self-esteem to her motherhood journey. “My body was changing so much hormonally and mentally,” she explained.

Thankfully, the freedom to be herself has become more accessible over time—a far stretch from how she felt while in the spotlight as a teen idol. “I think people will say things, you know, and maybe expect me to look a certain way, yes,” she said of aging in the public eye. “But I mean, it’s just not realistic. I can only age the way I’m going to age, right?”

Now, she’s focusing less on appearances and more about taking care of herself—in the form of nourishing food, cold plunges, and other wellness practices. “I’m the best I can be and I’m taking care of myself and doing things that I know will benefit the outside exterior of myself that people are seeing,” she said. “But yeah, those people don’t know what’s happening on the inside, right? Because that’s what actually helps the outside.”

After all, aging, to her, is about achieving longevity and comfort.“I’m doing it for myself, I’m doing it for my kids, my husband,” she said. “I want to be around for as long as possible of course, to be able to see my kids grow up and have kids of their own, and all those things that are much more important to me now.”

She concluded: “I’m at a good place now. My main concern is raising happy, healthy kids that are going to do well for themselves and society.”

We can’t wait to see the newfound confidence that the next year brings for the star!
