Hammel Recyclingtechnik GmbH turns 20

The company says it has introduced many innovations in shredding and separation technology since its founding.

Bad Salzungen, Germany -based Hammel Recyclingtechnik GmbH celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2016. The company was established 15 February 1996 with only three employees and a small production hall. In the years since, the company has developed an international presence in the area of shredding and recycling technology, an accomplishment it says it owes to the efforts of its employees.

The company says it has established a product range characterised by “high performance and quality” based on its initial prototypes of two decades ago. The company produces shredding technology for wood, waste and metal, with numerous innovations in recent years.

In 2012 Hammel introduced what it describes as “the world's largest mobile shredder,” the VB 1500 DK primary shredder, which is suitable for shredding used car bodies, mega tires and bulky materials. One year later, the company launched the Hammel VB 750 Limited Edition. This preshredder is equipped with a 480-horsepower Caterpillar C13 engine for higher throughput, Hammel says. The company’s recent product innovations also include the Hammel primary shredder VB 450 DK – Duo.

Hammel also says it has introduced secondary shredding and screening and sorting technology innovations, including the stationary metal separator SMA and its mobile version the MMA 1400 E. When processing wood scrap, Hammel says an “energy saving” and therefore “economical” size reduction is possible and the mobile metal processing plant separates ferrous metals and nonferrous materials in a single step.

The company says it designs its processing plants to individual customer requirements with its various mobile and stationary components.

Hammel says it has built a strong sales and service network in the last 20 years that is active in almost all countries of the world.
