Madrella ferruginosa Alder & Hancock, 1864
Madrella ferruginosa grows to about 4,5 cm. Very similar in shape and colour to Madrella sanguinea, but is a darker orange or red-brown colour and grows to a much larger size.
This species feeds exclusively on bryozoan. Both species have a gland at the base of each ceras , which exudes a bright yellow or orange secretion (possibly from its bryozoan food).it is well camouflaged against its bryozoan prey.
