Description: Colonies are branching. Corallites are widely separated, sometimes angular in outline, with a solid conical columella. Usually ten septa are present and these are fused with the columella. The coenosteum has fine spinules which sometimes form a ridge between corallites. Tentacles are extended day and night.

Ich kann mich noch erinnern irgendwo ( Mergus , Julian Sprung ? ) eine Madracis mirabilis gesehen zu haben , deren Polypen eine blassblaue/graue Farbe hatten .
Ein Berliner Händler hatte so eine in seinen Schaubecken und es gab jedes mal eine Diskusion .
Er war nämlich der Meinung das es eine Pocillopora sei .
Na egal hier nach Europa kommen diese Korallen sowieso nur selten , wer da eine erhält sollte sie als Kleinod betrachten .

Madracis mirabilis erscheint in hellgelber bis hellbrauner Farbe. Die kleinen Korallenpolypen bilden dichte Büschel in der Größe von kleinen Bleistift-Zweigen mit stumpfen Spitzen. Die Zweige sind nicht verbunden durch Gewebe, sondern durch eine gemeinsames Skelett. Wächst die Kolonie, verschwindet das Gewebe an der Basis jedes Zweiges, so dass das nackte Skelett zum Vorschein kommt. (ähnlich wie bei Poccilopora-Arten)
