DICTIONARY OF GEOLOGICAL TERMS

Dialogue #85
June 1987
With this edition, the physical sciences make their debut in the Dialogues series. Yet inclusion
of this contribution from the field of geology marks no basic shift in editorial:. policy, since the rele-
vance of this effort transcends purely scientific and disciplinary concerns: lrtt addressing the need
for a specialized, inexpensive EnglishjSpanish dlctionary of geological terms, lt promises to facili-
tate the application of geological knowledge to Latn American initiatives in development planning
and resource management. We are pleased, then, to publish this bilingual dictionary by Grenville
Draper and Gabriel Yanni as a contribution not only to the field of geology but, more generally, to
development planning and resource management in the Americas.
Grenville Draper is associate professor of geology at Florida lnternational University, and has
published extensively on geology and the tectonics of the Caribbean reglen. Gabriel Yanni is
director of Registrar Support Services at Florida lnternational University.
PRESENTACION
