Bloody Butcher Corn (Zea mays): This beautiful variety dates from 1840 in Virginia, USA, probably donated by indigenous people. The plant is strong and rustic, up to 3mt tall, it is held by strong, sturdy stem so it is not vulnerable to strong winds. The cob reaches 30 cm, massive and heavy; the grains display an intense red colour, it tastes particularly sweet. It is a flour corn, which ends up being extremely pretty because of its pink colour, but it is also great for forage, thanks to its productivity and rusticity. It doesn't have any particular demands of soil or water. It takes about 100 days from transplanting.
