Technology Description
The Magic of Holographic Technology
In April 2012, the famous rapper, Tupac, was brought back to life in
the form of a reflection hologram at the Coachella Music Festival.

After several months of planning. The Hollywood
effects house, Digital Domain, and San Diego-based AV
Concepts created the hologram that brought Tupac’s
image back to life to peform for his fans once again.

                                Resource: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1683173/tupac-hologram-coachella.jhtml
The 3D hologram of Tupac is a dramatic example of
holographic technology, but we see holograms everyday.
Holograms are used on almost everything that is sold as
“official merchandise”, and they are used to prevent fraud.

Some Examples Include:

         CDs

        DVDs

     Credit Cards

   Driver’s Licenses

It doesn’t take many tools to build a hologram.
All you need is:
      A laser
  Some Lenses
A Beam Splitter
 Some Mirrors
Holographic Film

                    Resource: http://science.howstuffworks.com/hologram.htm
There are several different ways you can
arrange these tools to create a hologram
depending on which type you want to create.

                                Resource: http://science.howstuffworks.com/hologram.htm
There are two types of holograms.

   Transmission and Reflection

                            Resource: http://science.howstuffworks.com/hologram.htm
Transmission Holograms

“Transmission holograms create a 3-D image
when monochromatic light, or light that is all
one wavelength, travels through them.”

                      - HowStuffWorks.com

                                  Resource: http://science.howstuffworks.com/hologram.htm
Transmission Holograms

This is the basic set up
             of the tools needed to
              make a transmission
                    hologram.

                      Resource: http://science.howstuffworks.com/hologram.htm
Reflection Holograms

“Reflection holograms create a 3-D
image when laser light or white light
reflects off of their surface.”

              - HowStuffWorks.com

             This is a common way
               to set up the tools
               needed to make a
              reflection hologram.

The Future of Hologram Technology
The Staying Power of Hologram Technology

“Unlike technologies that become obsolete when a new
generation of smaller, more stylish, or faster gadgets come
along, they will not be outmoded because they reproduce
the world exactly as we perceive it.”

- Sean Johnston of the University of Glasgow in Scotland

         Resource: http://www.boston.com/yourtown/cambridge/articles/2012/06/25/mit_hosts_conference_focused_on_the_future_of_holograms_in_art_3_d_entertainment/
Possible Future Innovations in Hologram Technology

  - New types of video holography
  - Desktop monitors that display holograms
  - A simpler process for displaying holograms
  - Holographic maps that don’t require glasses
  - Interactive displays of medical imaging
  - Living-room televisions that display holograms

        Resource: http://www.boston.com/yourtown/cambridge/articles/2012/06/25/mit_hosts_conference_focused_on_the_future_of_holograms_in_art_3_d_entertainment/
Business Objectives
Hologram technology will be a very powerful tool
for Dog Town. As the technology becomes more
readily available, we foresee the possibilities for
sending 3D images of homeless dogs right into the
homes of people throughout the country. We predict
this experience can be transmitted through mobile
devices, televisions, computers, and new technology
that hasn’t been developed yet.
By creating 3D images of dogs who need homes, people
will have the opportunity to meet and experience the
personality of dogs they otherwise may not meet.
We foresee that people will connect with their future
pets through the use of 3D holograms. With future
innovations in transportation, as well, we should be
capable of transporting pets to their new homes much
easier and more affordably than we can today.
This is just one way we will be able to reach our
goal of making sure every pet has a home.
Adoption
Holographic technology is evolutionary. The scenario in
which we will ideally use this technology is not in our
near future. However, it will be available at the point in
which we can introduce our use for it in its sweet spot.
The Sweet Spot for Dog Town’s Use of Holograms

We introduce it at the right time
and people respond well to it. The
                   investment also must make sense,
                       according to our analytics.

                                 The
                                Sweet
                                 Spot
Our organization is committed We are prepared to respond to
to using and responding to what the technology brings us
    the technology, and we enjoy
           working with it.
Monetization
Fundraising

We can use holographic technology to create
marketing and PR videos that will have an
impact on people, compelling them to donate.
Communication

Holograms will create new opportunities
for communicating with potential pet
parents, other pet rescue groups, and
animal shelters. It will also make it easier
for others to help us spread the word
about our mission. This will save us money
on operating costs.
Analytics
Data Collection

We will need to collect data on the social psychological
affects that meeting pets through holograms has on
potential pet parents to know if the technology is a
worthwhile investment. We will also need to weigh the
balance of costs and predicted outcomes. Additionally,
we will test how potential donors react to our PR and
marketing campaigns created with holographic
technology.
Conclusion
In conclusion, we envision several very real possibilities
for using holographic technology to find homes for
dogs, raise funds from donors, and communicate better.
We foresee holographic technology to be a way to save
money, get our message out to the public, and match
pets with the right families easier than we can right
now. However, we will need to weigh the costs with
potential benefits and do some product testing to make
sure investing in holographic technology for our
business is a good investment.
