Introduction Of A Descriptive Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of introducing a descriptive essay presents its own set of
challenges. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a clear understanding of the subject matter
but also in the art of engaging the reader from the very beginning. One must delicately balance
providing essential information about what a descriptive essay entails while simultaneously
creating a captivating introduction that sparks the reader's interest.
Describing something with vivid details and evoking sensory experiences requires a keen
observational eye and a mastery of language. The challenge is not only to communicate the
physical attributes of the subject but also to convey the emotions and atmosphere associated with
it. This demands a thoughtful selection of words and phrases to paint a vivid picture in the
reader's mind.
Additionally, striking the right tone is crucial. The introduction sets the stage for the entire essay,
and finding the appropriate balance between being informative and engaging can be a delicate
task. Too much information might overwhelm the reader, while too little may leave them
puzzled or disinterested.
Moreover, grappling with the challenge of originality can be daunting. The introduction should
not only serve as a guide to what follows but also as a unique expression that captures the
essence of the descriptive essay in a way that stands out from generic approaches.
In conclusion, composing an essay on introducing a descriptive essay requires navigating through
the complexities of balancing information, engaging the reader, employing vivid language, and
maintaining originality. It is a task that demands careful consideration of every word and phrase
to create an introduction that not only informs but captivates. While challenging, mastering this
art can significantly enhance one's ability to communicate effectively through descriptive writing.

Effective Communication As A Health Care Professional
Communication is about more than just exchanging information. It s about
understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. Effective
communication is how you convey a message so that it is received and understood by
someone in exactly the way you intended (L. Robinson, J. Segal, Ph. D., M. Smith.
2015). This paper looks at the requirements of effective communication as a health
care professional and the essential concepts to have as a registered nurse. Effective
communication assists with many circumstances in clinical situations. Arnold,
Boggs, Barraclough, Levett Jones and Grover have discussed that different
communication styles can be used to create stronger therapeutic relationships. Ideas
supporting this argument are the effects of establishing a strong client nurse
relationship and understanding the bridges to help construct and build a therapeutic
relationship. Effective communication benefits us to enhance our understanding of a
person. Determining the appropriate communication style to be used enables us, as a
health care professional to resolve differences, build respect and trust, and be key in
producing environments in which problem solving, creating ideas and caring can
flourish. A therapeutic relationship is professional, interpersonal alliance in which the
nurse and client join together for a defined period to achieve health related treatment
goals (Arnold and Boggs, 2011 p. 38). The authors evaluate basic communication
concepts and how
Financial Aid Reflection
Hey Phillip, sorry that I haven t enrolled for next semester yet. I would ve enrolled
by now however I literally can t, the reason for why I can t is because I am in a
little bit of a financial bind at the moment. You see, this whole semester I have
been trying to get the financial aid office to fix my award money by filling out a
special consideration form because at around this time last year my mom got laid
off from work and hasn t been able to find a job since then, however due to a mistake
within the financial aid office they had records that said that my familywas making
twice the amount of money than previous years, when that is the farthest from the
truth we could get.
As a result from this misinformation, financial aid took away all of my grants and
when I spoke with them about what is going on, they handed me a Special
Consideration Form and told me that I shouldn t have to sign up for a payment
plan since I should ve been guaranteed to get my grants back. Even though I should
have stayed on the side of caution and had my parents sign up for a payment plan, I
listened to Financial Aid and told my parents what they had told me and they
decided to not sign up for a plan. As luck would have it, after I turned in my forms
they then misplaced them and I had to resubmit everything again towards the end of
October despite the fact that I had majority of what they had requested in, they
misplaced a form that was crucial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yesterday afternoon I finally got word from them stating that they fixed things,
however upon checking to see for myself I realized that them fixing my situation
meant giving me a grant that would only pay for 38% of what it said that I owed
which, given current family situations, is nowhere near as much as I needed nor is it
making it possible for my family to actually pay for
Red Queen Theme
The theme of Red Queen is age. As time passes people evolve and their thoughts
and actions change, as is happening in the Red Queen. Mare is growing and
changing into a different person, whose thoughts and actions changed over time.
Mare has changed her personality to one that would suit a silver, because she is
now a silver princess. She needed to change because she acted to much like a red, so
she needed to warp her personality into one of a silver, though that didn t change
how she acted much, because she refused to change the key aspects of her
personality. So far Mare had meet Julian Jacos, her mentor, and found out how to
control her power and use it. Then she went home, found out her brother was dead,
and joined the red guard. Then she
Theme Of Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird
Bravery, showing mental or moral strength to face danger, is a crucial word in To
Kill A Mockingbird. This book takes place in the South during the 1930 s, a time
of prejudice and racism. At this time, one was ridiculed if one s beliefs were not the
same as the traditional beliefs of the town. Bravery is vital to go against society.
Courage is a major theme in Harper Lee s, To Kill A Mockingbird, and is
demonstrated throughout the book by Mrs.Dubose, Boo Radley, and Atticus.
Courage is a major theme that is demonstrated throughout the book by
Mrs.Dubose. She was fighting a losing battle up until her final breaths. She was
determined to die free of everything and she was brave enough to keep fighting.
Mrs.Dubose displayed true courage as shown in the quote, ...I wanted you to see
what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in
his hand. It s when you know you re licked before you begin anyway and you see it
through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do. Mrs.Dubose
won... (128). In a way, Mrs.Dubose stood up for her belief and will to die free.
When most would have given up, or been too fearful, Mrs.Dubose marched on.
Although she seemed inconsiderate and insulting, there was still some good in her.
Under all of her bad qualities and insults, in the end, her bravery shined through.
She stayed true to her word as shown in the quote, ... She said she meant to break
herself of it before she died, and that s what she did (127). Mrs.Dubose was a
character who exhibited true courage until the end.
Another character who demonstrates courage is Atticus. He displays bravery when
he shot Tim Johnson, and when he accepted Tom Robinson s case. When the whole
town was hiding in their houses, Atticus stepped up to the task of killing Tim
Johnson. Several things could have gone astray, as shown in the quote, Miss and you
ll go straight into the Radley house! (110). Despite the consequences of missing,
Atticus rose to the challenge. While everyone waited for Tim Johnson to pass,
Atticus was courageous enough to walk outside and shoot Tim. He knew his
responsibility to the town and instead of cowering behind the safety of his house, he
faced Tim Johnson head on.
Pan s Labyrinth Surrealism
The early Francoist period of Spain s history was filled with violence, discourse, and
the beginning of a new government. Soon after the end of the Spanish Civil War,
there was still fighting going on between the victorious Nationalists and the
Republicans. The fantasy film Pan s Labyrinth depicts this time period of Spainin a
surrealist setting as it follows the adventures of a young girl, Ofelia, as she goes
between a dark underground world and the real world. While the film is often
surrealist, it also displays the violent ways of the early Francoist period in the camp
of Ofelia s stepfather, the Falangist Captain Vidal. Throughout the film a dark
atmosphere, surreal elements, and distinct characters help develop the setting and
mood of Spain during this time. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

subconscious minds of the people living in Spain during the early Francoist period.
At the beginning of the film Ofelia reads a story about a princess from an

underground realm and her throne. Later in the story, Ofelia is discovered to be the
rumoured princess Moana, and must complete three tasks in order to win her
immortality. She sees mythical creatures such as fairies, giant frogs, a faun, and a
child eating monster. The viewer never knows whether these creatures are actually
real or not, as Ofelia is the only one who ever interacts with them. She is also a young
child, and has a naturally adventurous
Parens Patriae Model Vs. Police Powers Model
I believe Ashleigh, Donna, and Grace made significant points for each of the models,
but I think parens patriae model remains more effective than the police powers model.
Parens patriae refers to the concept when the government acts as a protector for
individuals who can t make decisions about their wellbeing due to a mental disorder
or a physical illness. For example, people who are diagnosed with infectious
tuberculosis are involuntarily quarantined by the government. On the other hand,
police powers refer to the concept where the police have the authority to control
individuals who daunt public order even if they are mentally or physically disabled.
For example, an individual may be involuntarily put into a mental facility if he or she
is diagnosed with a mental disorder and commits a crime such as manslaughter. ...

For instance, if a mentally disordered teenager is neglected by his or her parents
then he or she has the privilege to be committed to a mental health facility where
his or her basic needs such as food and water will be satisfied and will also receive
proper treatment. Also, parens patriae model ensures the safety of the public if the
mentally disordered individuals are prone to committing crimes. For example, parens
patriae acts as a preventive method to stop mentally disordered individuals before
they commit crimes, which also benefits the society by reducing crime levels.
Police powers model remains significant because it doesn t discriminate between
ordinary citizens and mentally disordered citizens when they commit crimes since
both types of people will be detained by the police. Also, the police powers model
protects members of the society because it detains individuals who commit crimes
and reject social norms, even if they are mentally or physically
Roosevelt, Immigration, and Americanism Essay example
As one of the presidents during the Progressive Era, Theodore Roosevelt led the
United States of America through a series of dramatic changes that interrupted the
lives and ideologies that Americans during the time were more than familiarized with.
Industrialization, women s suffrage, the sexual revolution, imperialism, and
muckraking journalism were just a few of the controversial, yet significant
characteristics of this era. However, perhaps one of the largest and most vital
influences during this time period came from the outside. Immigration was an issue
that Roosevelt himself addressed rather perceptibly in his paper entitled True
Americanism, which first appeared in a magazine called The Forum in April, 1894.
However, it is not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The immigrants were not the only ones undergoing difficulty, however. The United
States also experienced difficulty taking in the immigrants. Since almost all
immigrants were in dire need of jobs, they tended to settle in urban areas where jobs
could be easily located. Often times, immigrants would settle in areas dominated by
other immigrants who speak the same language or were from the same country.
Consequently, the cities became more congested than ever, and city services were
not always successful in keeping up with the surge of newcomers. Although most
immigrants were able to find and pursue jobs, many of them were jobs that native
born Americans refused to practice. Regardless of their jobs, living conditions, and/or
nationalities, immigrants grew to play a huge part in many areas of American society.
According to Roosevelt, Americanism is a characteristic of those Americans who
perform their allotted tasks by facing them steadily and bravely, seeing but not
fearing the dangers (6). It is a sense of brotherhood. As Roosevelt states in his paper:
Above all, we must stand shoulder to shoulder, not asking as to the ancestry or creed
of our comrades [immigrants], but only demanding that they be in very truth
Americans, and that we all work together, heart, hand, and head, for the honor and the
greatness of our common country (6).

Argumentative Essay On Interracial Relationships
Back then there were slave masters and slaves. These were the horrible ages of the
past. Then later came segregation and the civil rights movement. Still, racial tension
increased. Consequently, after different generations of both black and white people,
they were all born with a burden into this world. These generations were eventually
born into a society with the burdens of their ancestors. The fight against oppression
and racism. Recently in the United States, there are many that believe we can all
come together and live happily. These people usually pursue interracial
relationships. Regardless of our history, we should be able to marry or date outside of
our race. Does it pose a threat to either side? No, it does not. People need to think of
it as gaining knowledge about other people. It s an exchange of true love and an
exchange of culture that satisfies the relationship.
Interracial relationships have always been controversial. Whether it is about
families disapproving of the other individual or because of the different backgrounds
that contain large amounts of racial tension. In modern US society, interracial
relationships are viewed as very disputable. There are two different sides, which are
those who accept it and others that completely oppose it. However, interracial
relationships should be more accepted today because there is a lot more to gain.
Have you ever seen an interracial couple while you were just strolling down the
street? Or seen a mixed looking child? That proves that interracial marriages are
becoming more abundant and universal every day. In 2015, there were 11 million
couples that consisted of many other races including black, Asian and white (Kristen
Bialik Key facts about race and marriage, 50 years after Loving v. Virginia ).
In 1967, it was finally legal for any couple consisting of two different races to get
married (by the U.S. Supreme court). This law showed Americans that it s totally
okay to be from two completely different races and live happily together.
Additionally, in the 1990 s, it helped deteriorate the seperation of blacks and whites.
In 1963 they obtained help from the American Civil Liberties Union, which
unsuccessfully sought to reverse their convictions in
Romantic Love Essay
Romantic love as a cultural script includes the belief that love is all you need; true
love lasts forever; true lovers become one; love is pure and good; and anything
done in the name of love cannot be wrong (Ben Ze ev Goussinsky, 2008). Romantic
ideology encompasses positive aspects of love, such as mutual devotion and
intimacy. This influence is present in a beginning scene where Angela is talking to
Mamen about her boyfriend and stating her faithfulness. She explains how she is
able to separate the job (prostitution) from her loyalty. Even if work is busy, 30
guys in a day, she will continue to be faithful. Angela advises Mamen to take care of
her own boyfriend. Then a pseudo scenario is brought up where a hot guy at a club
is present... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later on, Caya is on a date with Manuel and she asks him that question. She
basically cries when he replies that he would definitely pick her up from work.
Zulema also contributes to the romantic script by showing us some affiliation as she
cooks for one of her returning clients. A final instance that is in the grey area between
insanity and romantic love is Caya s mother, Pilar. Looping into the ideology that
true love lasts forever, we can see how Pilar continues to love her dead husband
because she does not accept the fact he has passed. During the film, Pilar
consistently receives flowers to her house from an anonymous sender. At first
perception we can think she has a secret admirer. Subsequently, her son supports
the idea of the admirer, but Pilar insists that they are from her husband. It is later
revealed by Caya that she had been sending flowers to herself the whole time.
Physical attractiveness is especially important to men choosing a prospective
sexual partner or mate, as shown by research in many cultures. Males will usually
choose good looks, whereas women favor personal qualities and earning abilities.
Preference is also determined by sexist attitudes about gender roles. People with
more sexist beliefs about gender role ideologies prefer partners who have traditional
masculine/feminine qualities (Crawford, 2012). Using the films schema, we can
identify good looks as big breasts, big butts, nice hair, fixed nails, and a clean
appearance overall. Caya

The Power of the Atomic Bomb in Shaping the Post War World
There were few men in Washington who understood the role the atomic bomb
could play in ending World War II and shaping the peace. Military planning focused
on two options, conventional bombing accompanied by a blockade or an invasion
of the Japanese home islands. Both options were so problematic politically and
militarily that policymakers who were familiar with the Manhattan Project found it
difficult to oppose the bomb s use. There were also few men who knew the role the
bomb could play in winning the peace. President Harry S. Truman, Secretary of State
James F. Byrnes, and Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson saw the bomb as a way to

It had the benefit of speed. Since the Casablanca conference, achieving Japanese
surrender as early as possible following the capitulation of Germany had been the
strategic objective in the Pacific. However, on May 25th, 1945 Truman had stated
a new objective of economizing American lives to the greatest extent possible. The
Army plan for invading Kyushu was the most costly option in terms of lives, but it
was the quickest. It was based on a directive to end the war in the Pacific within 12
months of V E Day. Casualty estimates for the first thirty days of operations against
Kyushu ranged from 30,000 to 50, 000. The Army plan was grossly handicapped
by its reliance on Soviet entry into the Pacific War. General Douglas MacArthur
considered a Soviet attack in Manchuria a prerequisite for invasion. Considering
the Polish crisis of April 1945 and growing tensions over Soviet behavior in
occupied Europe, Soviet involvement in East Asia was less than desirable. The best
recommendation of the Navy was a plan that offered no reasonable prediction of
when Japan would be defeated. The Army plan for invasion, which the JCS approved
over the Navy plan, required Soviet entry into the war to ensure success. Their entry
would allow them to consolidate their Yalta concessions in Manchuria and possibly
allow them to exert influence over China. In addition to this diplomatic problem, the
invasion plan was the more costly in terms of casualties. Truman
The Ethical Philosophy Of The United States
Organizations have disparate marketing strategies when selecting choices that affect
stakeholders. Each approach touches the consumer and the Earth; it defines if the
business is socially accountable for humanity. When the ethical philosophy a
company follows is for universal individual rights regardless of the outcome, it is
moral idealism. In contrast, when only considering the greater good for the greatest
number and appraising cost and the benefit of the choice it is utilitarianism. If the
benefits exceed the costs, then the behavior is ethical, if not, then the behavior is
considered unethical. This philosophy underlies the economic tenets of capitalism
and is embraced by many business executives (Kerin, Hartley, Rudelius, 2015,...

A company incorporating structures to guide executives that considers all the
variables began with Robert Wood Johnson of Johnson Johnson. In 1934, he wrote a
credo which became a structure for other organizations to consider. The statement
described that their responsibility was to all users of their products, and that the
stockholders should realize a fair return without doing harm to a consumer (Johnson
Johnson, 1943). These principles established ethical guidelines for Johnson Johnson
and a model for other industries. В¬The United States Civil Rights Act of 1964, the
U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and the Foreign Corrupt Practices
Act of 1977 helped companies to become socially responsible (De George, 2015).
Ethics and social responsibilities are evident with British Petroleum s handling of
the Deepwater Horizon spill in 2010, and Toyota Motor Corporation s attempt to
create an eco friendly vehicle. Utilitarianism was exhibited by BP and moral
idealism was Toyota s motive to produce environmentally green vehicles. British
Petroleum redesigned their name to make it more environmentally friendly, it was
changed to Beyond Petroleum, which professed their focus on renewable energy not
just hydrocarbons, and promoted a pro social marketing plan (Balmer et al., 2011).
In 2008, they defined their sustainable conduct: we aim for no accidents, no harm to

Abstract.
Cells that lack catenin have shown that they do not possess the ability to adhere to
the degree of cells expressing normal amounts of catenin. To provide a further
understanding of the adhesiveness of cells, human rectal carcinoma cell lines
expressing variable amounts of catenin were examined. These carcinoma cells
possess a differential amount of catenin, a molecule deemed essential in a cells
adherence. In this study, the relationship between the concentration of catenin present
and the strength of cell cell adhesion was analyzed. A western blot was used to
quantify the amount of catenin present in the varying cell lines in combination with

The importance of cellular adhesion in homotypic cell cell contact is vital in the
construction of basic tissues into differentiated organs and body systems (Pokutta,
Drees, Yamada, Nelson Weis, 2008). In the adhesion complex responsible for
adherence, like cells are attracted to like cells during specialization, creating the
separation of organ systems such as the tissue of skin from the tissue of the lung.
When homologous cells are in proximity to one another, they form tight adhesion
junctions that strengthen over time, commonly recognized as adherens junctions.
These flexible, but stable junctions have specific chemical and molecular components
that enable cells to adhere to each other and remain attached during development to
retain integrity (Maiden Hardin, 2011).
The adherens junctions control cell cell adhesion in live epithelial tissues. A various
number of proteinacious molecules work with one another to create tissues. The
molecules that form adherens junctions include: cadherin, vinculin, p120 catenin,
beta catenin, and catenin (Jordan, 2008). The assembly of these molecules between
two epithelial cells can be seen (Figure 1). These molecules responsible for adherens
junctions were discovered roughly thirty years ago. Specifically, an
immunoprecipitation experiment on cadherin proteins removed from epithelial cells
through detergent precipitation (Pokutta et. al, 2008). The discovery of the
transmembrane linked protein, cadherin lead to the

Gruwell has now finished reading the diaries and is sitting at her desk, thinking.
As the camera pans across her head from right to left, we can see in the background
the change of atmosphere as it goes from a dark room to a light room with the

new thought and a new light. The effect of this technique is to show that Ms
Gruwell now understands in depth what her students are facing and the impact its
reality creates on their lives every day. The use of this technique makes the
audience challenge their thinking about the lives of students who are living in
impoverished and corrupt environments. This challenges the audience s way of
thinking about people and to not pre judge them, based off what they heard and
seen because we tend to pre judge people by their appearance and actions, without
knowing the truth. This will make the audience realize that even if you are talking
to someone face to face and the truth is being said, there will always be some truth
that is left behind and is kept a secret. Because sometimes we need to face that it is

Anxiety Disorders Essay
This paper is going to be about anxiety disorders. I am going to explain what
anxiety is and the different types of anxiety disorders. The types of anxiety I am
going to talk about are Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic
Stress, Panic Disorder and Social Phobia. Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. It
helps some one deal with a tense situation in the office, study harder for an exam,
keep focused on an important speech. In general, it helps some one cope. But when
anxietybecomes an excessive, irrational dread of everyday situations, it has become a
disabling disorder. Anxiety disordersare serious medical illnesses that affect

You may spend long periods touching things or counting. Most adults with this
condition recognize that what they re doing is senseless, but they can t stop it. Some
people, though, particularly children with OCD, may not realize that their behavior is
out of the ordinary.
Post Traumatic Stress: PTSD affects about 5.2 million adult Americans. Women are
more likely than men to develop this disorder. It can occur at any age, including
childhood, and there is some evidence that shows PTSD may run in families. The
disorder is often accompanied by depression, substance abuse, or one or more other
anxiety disorders.
PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event in
which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened. Traumatic events that may
trigger this anxiety include violent personal assaults, natural or human caused
disasters, accidents, or military combat.
People that suffer from PTSD have persistent frightening thoughts and memories of
the frightening event and feel emotionally numb. This especially happens with
people they were once close to. They may experience sleep problems, feel detached
or numb, or be easily startled.
Panic Disorder:
Panic disorder affects about 2.4 million adult Americans. It is twice as common in
women as in men. It most often begins during late adolescence or early adulthood.
Risk of developing panic disorder appears to be inherited. Not everyone who
experiences panic
The Importance Of Friendships In High School
I lifted my backpack off of the sidewalk and kissed my mother goodbye. As I turned
to walk away she quickly grabbed my arm and twisted me around. She pulled me
in closer and softly said to me, Remember our golden rule, treat others the way you
would want to be treated and they will treat you the same. I applied the Golden Rule
every year, from the beginning of kindergarten to the end of 8th grade. The golden
rule taught me how to build friendships, see the best in people, openly accept them
for how they come, and love them for who they are. Throughout the years the
golden rule stopped being a rule and started to become a part of me. Little did I know,
there was a downside to it. It was during my first year of high schoolwhen I realized
that you could treat people the way you would like to be treated but that doesn t
mean they re obligated to treat you the same. I opened the car door, turned to blow
my mother a quick kiss goodbye and began making my way through the front doors
of the high school. I was excited to reunite with my classmates but as I walked into
the cafeteria, I noticed that everyone divided into different tables. After the first few
weeks, I slowly began to notice that these tables turned into different cliques. People
started isolating themselves within these new cliques and stopped communicating
with people from other cliques. Things were different; it was as if the golden rule
never existed. Instead of treating others with kindness and accepting
The Human Diet And Its Effect On Our Society
The human diet is shaped in evolution. We spent millions of years in a foraging
lifestyle and our genome still expects us to eat this way (Gluckman et al., 2016).
But recently we have adopted a new post industrial lifestyle that seems to go
against our genetic makeup because there is an increasing trend of metabolic
diseases in our society. We noticed this trend decades ago and have been trying to
explain it. In 1962, geneticist James Neel proposed the thrifty gene hypothesis,
saying that some of our ancient ancestors with a gene variant that allowed them to
store calories as fat prevailed because it gave a survival edge during times of famine
(Johnson and Andrews, 2015). That is a great advantage during Paleolithic times
when food could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medical professionals, manufacturers, and consumers are all aware of the negative
impacts of added sugar. So instead of curtailing a sugar addiction, scientists and
manufactures created a healthy alternative: artificial sweeteners. But artificial
sweeteners are not a healthy alternative because they too negatively impact metabolic
health.
Artificial sweeteners are known by many different names: low calorie sweeteners
(LCS), low and non calorie sweeteners (LNCS), non nutritive sweeteners (NNS), and
non caloric artificial sweeteners (NAS) (RiobГі ServГЎn, Sierra Poyatos, Soldo
RodrГguez, 2014). They can be divided into two groups: nutritive sweeteners, which

Effects Of Sweatshops
Terrible Sweatshops: The Examination of the Unethicalness
Figure 1 (Lewin)
FORCED TO WORK EXHAUSTING HOURS this is the label which a woman
who bought a summer dress at Primark found (See figure 1). The message was a cry
for help from workers and implies the harsh environment for the people in a
sweatshop (Lewin). The word sweatshop was made in the end of 1800s. The
definition of the sweatshop is broad but it describes any workplace where people
are forced poor conditions and long hours of works with low wages (Annabelle).
The US Department of Labor defined a sweatshop as a factory which violates two
or more labor laws (DoSomething.org). People in developed countries tend to enjoy
buying cheaper products and do not care about the reality of the process they have
made. In fact, many women and children are forced to work in sweatshops in
developing countries. Some corporations such as NIKE, GAP and Wal Mart have
already revealed those facts but the problem has not been solved yet (Bakan).
Actually, those are just few of the companies involved in sweatshop labor. By using
sweatshops, many corporations reduce their production costs. And millions of people
still live with what they get from sweatshops (Solution). Some people say the
sweatshop is ethical because it provides better jobs than the average jobs in those ...

People who believe that sweatshop is ethical argue that it is better to have jobs than
to have no jobs at all. They say that if the countries simply ban the low wage labor,
the factories would move to other countries which permit lower wages and the
situation cannot be changed. And even if people think the conditions of sweatshop
labor are unfair and unethical, relative to their other alternatives, sweatshop labor is
a very attractive option for workers in the developing world. Some insist that
workers would only choose a job in a sweatshop when that job is better for them than
any of their other alternatives (Learn
Drama And Themes Of Drama
DRAMA AND THEMES
Drama by definition is a play, movie, television show, or radio show that is about a
serious subject and is not meant to make the audience laugh (Webster). Race,
social class, and gender very often are major story lines for films in the category of
drama. A drama can be based on several aspects, including but not limited to reality
and novels and cross over into several other genres of movies. Very often, we see
drama crossed with comedy, action, romance, etc., in turn making it the most
common genre of movies (Dirks, 2015). Drama focuses on realistic characters with a
realistic story line, high intensity special effects are not usually prevalent in dramas.
The Help, A Christmas Carol, Mr. Mom, are the dramas chosen that I feel depict race,
social class, and gender representation each at a very different level, based on the
time period implied in the movie.
COMMONALITIES AND CHOSEN ISSUES
If I am going to see a movie based on a novel I have read, for example, The Help, I
have a preconceived notion of what this movie is going to be about and
expectations based on the previews prior to entering the movie theater. An
additional spin on this movie, which often makes the actors and directors work
more difficult, the book became popular prior to the movie being created. Very
often when books are in place prior to the movie, readers have visualizations of
what the characters look like, how they will sound, etc. The Help is categorized as a
drama, and
Disadvantages Of Sourcing Securities
Definition of Sourcing Securities
A simple definition of sourcing security is any proof of ownership or debt which
has given value and can be sold. (Today, the proof of ownership may be a computer
file, while if it is a piece of writing paper.) For shareholders, the security is an
investment owner, creditor or the right to possession of any person who wishes to
make a profit. Examples are stocks, bonds and options. There are two type of
sourcing securities which is outsourcing and insourcing.
Outsourcing Securities
According to financial dictionary, Outsourcing securities is a practice of companies
hiring another company to keep companies data. Another definition of outsourcing is

Long term investment.
If the development project is run in house, it could come with a hefty price tag. The
companies will create long term investment in it. Having the employees up to date
with what s happening in their specific industry will also benefit their company in the
long run. So in other words, they will end up saving money and won t need to
constantly outsource to specialists, the company will have them right in the
organization.
The disadvantages of Insourcing Securities:
1.The cost of personnel requirements.
The company must takes responsibility for sick leave, annual leave, casual leave,
pension fund contributions, medical aid or provident fund contributions to their
employees.
2.Absenteeism problem.
A company might face the problems of absenteeism among Security Officers because
of sickness or vacations. As a result, more problems arise for the management of the
company while ensuring that the required number of personnel will be on hand
consistently.
3.Controlling disciplinary problems
Controlling discipline can be very time consuming, can result in substantial costs in
man hours for record keeping and hearing, and can be a burden to management.
Should Sports Be A Required Part Of Elementary
Education...
Test scores from the Program for International Student Assessment showed that
American 14 years olds scored below their international peers in math, reading and
science. Among 34 developed countries, the United States ranked 26th in math, 21st
in science and 17th in reading (Mercury News 2013). Many people believe that US
educational system is flawed and that urgently needs to be fixed. They debate
whether sports should be a required part of elementary education. Assuming that bad
test results have nothing to do with sports, should sports be a required part of
elementary education? Schools should inform children and their parents about
positive and possible negative aspects of sports and then kids with parents should
decide themselves whether or not to participate in sports. Sports shouldn t be a

Poland is a surprising educational success story: in the course of less than a decade,
the country raised students test scores from significantly below average for the
developed world to significantly above it; Polish kids now outscore American kids in
math and science, even though Poland spends, on average, less than half as much per
student as the United States does. One of the most striking differences between the
high school Tom attended in Gettysburg and the one he ends up in Wroclaw is that
the latter has no football team, or, for that matter, teams of any kind. This example is
a good illustration that education and sports don t work together. Yes, Tom is a high
school student and not elementary school student, but if sport was damaging for
education in high school why it should be beneficial in elementary

Renaissance Art in Europe
Michelangelo s Creation of Eve
To the average person, Michelangelo s Sistine Ceiling is renowned for its grandeur,
its dense scenes, but especially its iconic Creation of Adam. After all, Vasari
described Michelangelo s Adam as a figure whose beauty, pose, and contours are of
such a quality that he seems newly created by his Supreme and First Creator rather
than by the brush and design of a mere mortal (Varghese 191 192). And while this is
true, while the attention drawing Creation of Adam is immortally beautiful and the
Sistine Ceiling has unforgettable grandeur and density, an extremely fascinating
section of the Ceiling lies adjacent to the Creation of Adam, and thus is ... Show more

The presence of allegories is a common trend of Michelangelo s, and points to
significant conclusions, as clear with the Creation of Eve. The symbolism of the
Church can further be recognized within the very scene of the painting. It is claimed
that the creation of Eve from Adam s rib... alluded to the birth of the Church from
the blood that had flowed out of the side of the crucified Christ (Shearman, Winner
98). Just like when God took a rib from sleeping Adam to create the woman, Christ
gave humanity his blood and water after his death to create the Church. Beyond this,
right besides the Creation of Eve in the center lies the Cumaean Sibyl, additional
evidence of Michelangelo s strategic placement and symbolism. H. von Einem has
demonstrated that the Prophets and Sibyls...are connected with the theme of the
Virgin Mary, but the Cumaean Sibyl is especially connected (The Sistine Chapel41).
Cumae is the most famous of the Sibyls for predicting the birth of a Saviour,
interpreted in Christian times as a prediction of the birth of Christ (Varghese 213).
Men and women of the Renaissance endorsed the opinion that she foretold in the
birth of Christ, establishing a connection and support between her and the common

Racial Disparity In The Criminal Justice System

Social issues are dealt with every day, everywhere in our society. Issues like

of youth that have given into the pressures of the world. I would like you to think of
the X as the Greek symbol for Chi which is used as a symbol for Christ. In this

responding to the church in ways that the past generation did not. Where mom and

the sense of belonging that they are after? Has the culture that they have grown up

disadvantaged or broken homes. Many of them are well adjusted middle class kids

The Iron Lady
The Iron Lady. One of the most stand out monuments in the world, and one of the
most beautiful. It shares its nickname with Margaret Thatcher, a prime minister of
England. Built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 as an entrance to the World Fair, La Tour
Eiffel would stand for twenty years before being torn down. However, the tower
would later be repurposed as a radio antenna in 1909 for World War I, and still
stands as a radio antenna to this day, where more than one hundred antennae beam
radio and television broadcasts around the world. The Eiffel Toweris one of the most
recognized, and most paid for visited monument in the world. However, when it was
built, there were multiple protests against it. Most Parisians fear that La Tour Eiffel
was structurally unsound or that it was an eyesore that would out shadow other
famous buildings in Paris, like Notre Dame and the Louvre. Novelist Guy de
Maupassant allegedly hated the Eiffel Tower so much he ate lunch in the restaurant
at the base of the tower every day because it was the only vantage point from which
(I) could completely avoid glimpsing its looming silhouette. Eiffel later stated that
the tour was on the Champs de Mars and far enough away from all those other
monuments and it would not risk overwhelming them. Edouard Lockroy wrote a
letter of support about the tower, and explained how all the protesting was irrelevant
because the project had been decided upon months before and construction for it was
already underway. When

European And Non-European Expansion In The 1500s And
1600s
Europeans had many ambitions throughout the 1500s and 1600s. To achieve their
goals, they deferred to the non European culture. The main question remains: how did
the Europeans accommodate themselves to Non European culture? The European
traders and missionaries would accommodate themselves by integrating into the Non
European culture, by adapting their physical appearance, by referring to the traditional
practices, and through the response of the native people wants to European goods.
For Europe s influence to be successful across the world, they had a guide written
by Father Jean de BrГ©beuf, called Instructions for The Fathers of Our Society Who
Shall Be Sent to The Hurons. In this small guide, Father Jean, writes instruction for
other European members to follow in order to be successful in their influence in the

so embracing a culture that they thought was low class, was a big change to the
European men. As to the other numerous things which may be unpleasant, they must

They did not do anything that contradicts the Natives belief, as they were trying to
convert them to the idealized culture. They were doing so in a way that the Natives
did not realize they were being converted. So, the Europeans change their normal

Essay On Greek Philosophy
What is philosophy? Today when the word philosophy is spoken, it provokes thought
in most people. Philosophy is often associated with the wisest ones from the past
such as Aristotle and Plato. In fact, the word itself originates from the Greek word
philosophia, directly translating into the love of wisdom. Ancient Greek philosophy
covered an extensive amount of subjects such as science, the analysis of common
political and social life, along with religious affairs (Adkins and Adkins, Philosophy,
Ancient Greek ) . Ultimately, Ancient Greek philosophy is a complex system of
thought shaped by pre socratic thought, sophist thought, hellenistic thought, and the
thought of highly esteemed figures.
The origin of Greek philosophy traces back to the middle of the fifth century BCE.
The philosophical thoughts that originated in Ionia, during the sixth century BCE are
considered to be pre socratic because they reflect the common philosophy before
Socrates. During this time, the Ionians were ones to trade with those located nearby
to the west and east such as Mesopotamia and Persia. The active trading ... Show

For my mini research paper I chose to interview one of my family members who

the gastrointestinal tract. Crohn s Disease affects your digestive system and is
believed to be caused by an overproduction of proteins produced by the immune
system. The inflammation occurs when bacteria, food or other substances in the
digestive tract are mistaken as a danger to a person s health and the body then
responds by attacking the tissues of the colon. This process causes symptoms that
include pain in the abdominal, cramping, and chronic diarrhea, usually soon after
food is ingested. Upon being diagnosed, the doctor recommended making a few

Thus, the archetype of Naram SГ®m shows to be the epitome of the perfect male for
which other men strive to embody.
This concept is conveniently backed by the elders of Naram SГ®m, who were
successful in claiming that these attributes came in the form of being divine. This
claim to divinity literally underpinned their ascension to power and the relegation of
everyone else; rulers were to be revered for their beauty and power because it was
truly their god given right. Alas, Winter argues that the sexual allure of the ruler s
body firmly functions was a mechanism to continue aggrandizing their own status and
dominance.
Winter succesfully notes that this dominance and power was also preserved by
what we would call propaganda. In regards to another period of art, Winter suggests
that aesthetic pleasure can serve as the vehicle by which a highly seductive ideal
vision is articulated for the citizen viewer . In regards to the stela, the viewer sees an
image of an audacious, virtuous hero, the signifier which may have instilled and
preserved the distorted perception of hierarchy. Though the idea of being an alpha
male is nothing new at this point in history, it does become physically stamped into
history, used to gain loyalty between the ruler and the ruled.
However, this belief was not exclusive to just the king and his subjects, but also

Stories have been passed down from generation to generation since the dawn of
time. Stories were often passed down for a purpose, whether it was to bring joy or
hope to a person, or to teach an important lesson. Folktales date far back and are no
exception. Folktales reflect physical, emotional, and social survival, while the
characters experiences help to teach important life lessons.
Physical survival was one of the types of survival folktales show throughout the
stories. In The Fountain of Youth a group of Hispanic men must try to find a magical

In Johnny Appleseed s Secret the family knowing the British were coming would
have upset them and caused stress and worry (Marcatante, Johnny Appleseed s
Secret 46). After Johnny told the family that the British were coming they became
worried and frightened because the British were their enemies and could steal
from them or even kill them. A lesson that can be learned from this is if people
have the ability to help someone, then they should do it. Johnny walked two
hundred miles to warn the settlers that the British were on their way. People often
do not go out of their way to help each other and that should change. The First Tears
is a second example of a folktale that demonstrates emotional survival. As he spoke,
water began to flow from the eyes of Woman and Son, and they cried with Man. In
this way people first learned to weep (Schlosser, The First Tears ). Man, Woman,
and Son cried for the first time displaying the emotions of sadness and
disappointment. A moral that can be taken from The First Tears is success does not
always come at first, but do not give up. Man had to cope with his disappointment
in order to try again. When a person fails at something it is tempting to give up.
People need to persevere through challenges in order to be successful. There are
many folktales that display emotional survival, Johnny Appleseed s Secret and The

Direct Cinema Essay
Direct Cinema
The term direct cinema was coined by American director Albert Maysles, to describe
the style of documentary that he and his contemporaries were making in the 1960s as
a result of a lightweight, portable 16mm camera and high quality lightweight audio
recorders becoming available. The introduction of these, together with film stock
which was sensitive enough to give a good quality close up monochrome picture
under most lighting conditions
(Including hand held lights) led to a revolution in Documentary filmmaking, allowing
film crews to be much more flexible. Gone were the days of bulky, virtually
immobile 35mm cameras; now manufacturers improved their 16mm stock and
accepted it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ideal subjects for documentaries according to the direct cinema ethos were:
1) A person who is interesting;
2) A person who is in an interesting situation which s/he cares deeply about;
3) A subject where a conclusion can be arrived at in a limited time; and
4) A subject where there is easy access to events.
The group believed that the cameraman, the director and the sound recordist were all
equal in status and were all film makers, playing a role in an integrated process. They
felt that the filmmaker s relationship with the subject was personal and one of
equality, and that an audience was active in its engagement with the film. Direct
cinema practitioners wished the audience to be presented with sufficient evidence to
enable them to make up their own minds and not be mere passive observers.

Direct cinema was conceived with TV in mind. In the 60s TV had poor picture
quality, the black and white image being frequently fuzzy with viewers reliant on
good quality sound. Image quality such as this fitted in perfectly with direct cinema s
stance on camera framing and editing; anything more complex than
Comparison Of Modernism In A Streetcar Named Desire
And A...
The word modernism in literature means something new and untraditional that
reevaluates the accepted principles of our world. Modernism is a style of writing
that became popular in the early 1900 s. This style was developed in the period of
WWI, a time of many important social changes. A Streetcar Named Desire and A
Long Day s Journey Into Night are two plays that exemplify the style of modernism.
Journey is a modernist novel with a tragic storyline about the Tyrone family. The
main conflict in Streetcar is modernist because of the traditional, fundamentalist
thinking. Each of these plays contains a character who represents a very important
aspect of modernist literature: the burden of the past. This device is used distinctively
in each of these two plays. While some similarities between Blanche Duboisand Mary
Tyrone are evident, their differences are notable.
Blanche Dubois, from A Streetcar Named Desire, carries the heavy burden of her
past. Blanche was in love with a young man. She discovered her husband in bed with
an older man, someone whom she had believed was just his friend. When confronted
about the incident, he took his own life by shooting himself in the head.
Compounding the sorrow of her husband s violent suicide, Blanche becomes
increasingly fragile with the loss of the DuBois family home, Belle Reve. After the
death of her parents, she goes through many financial and personal struggles. Blanche
has always been burdened by her tormenting past, the loss of

Unknown Mixtures Lab Report
Background:
Mixtures are combinations pure substances, thus their physical properties depend on
their composition. Physical properties of a pure substance include solubility,
conductivity, and magnetism. By exploiting unique properties of mixtures, it is
possible to divide the mixture into its components. This is done by physical change,
such as filtration, evaporation, and crystallization.
Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to study the physical properties of salt,
sand, and iron and use this information to design and carry out a separation of an
unknown mixture. The mass percentage composition of the mixture can be calculated
from the masses of the recovered components.

Iron is magnetic. In our lab, when we ran a magnet through the mystery mix, the iron
jumped out from the mix and clug to the magnet. We were able to sort out all of the

Magnetism is a physical property. The chemical make up stays the same. If it were a
chemical property, bonds would break: the the makeup of the material would change,
but that was not the case. The iron in our lab stayed the same.
5. The combination of salt and sand is a mixture. It is a physical combination with
no fixed ratio. If it were a compound, it would be a chemical combined elements in

A Psychological Analysis of the Character of Darth Vader The Star Wars franchise
has enlightened us about visions of the possible future; from flying cities to powerful
weapons that can destroy entire planets. The mystical Jedi, the guardians of the
Galactic Republic and users of the light side, fighting the Sith, evil warriors of
cunning and treachery who use the dark side, both of whom wield the Force, an
interconnecting of all living things, set up the back story to this space epic. However,
the one character that has been given the most depth is, the one that the movie series
chooses to focus on: Darth Vader. More machine than man, twisted and evil (Episode

Another time, a virus from an Imperial research facility was accidentally released,
and the city around the lab had been sterilized. Sterilized, as in: baked torched,
seared, burned to cinders; houses, buildings, streets, parks And people (Perry 27).
Vader had been personally in charge of this process. It had been a close call, but the
cost had been relatively minor in the opinion of the Empire. In Darth Vader s
opinion (Perry 27). And again, in order to inspire fear in a local populace, he
bombed a civilian city, even though there weren t any military targets (Perry 252).
After Vader s defeat at the first Death Star, he became obsessed with capturing Luke
Skywalker, his son, in order to bring him to the dark side (Perry 305), exclaiming to
the Emperor, He will join us or die... (Perry 3). Vader s persistence in this also
revolved around a major precept of the Sith: that the apprentice will eventually kill
the master. When, according to Vader s plan, he met Luke again, [h]e would defeat
the boy and bring him to the dark side. They would be in accord, father and son.
And when that happened, nothing in the galaxy could stop them (Perry 216).
Because Vader was an agent of death and destruction, he considered himself a
warrior. And as such, he would prefer to plant himself in the path of an advancing
army alone... (Perry 151). He believed that [s]triking a man down with your blade

Physician Recruitment Process
Physician recruitment is the key of a practice to succeed. It is a whole process from
finding and hiring physicians to keeping and evaluating physicians. Good physician
recruitment will lead to good outcome of the practice. Due to the impact of different
factors, there is a shortage of the physicians and this situation will last for several
years. If the practice wants to find and keep great physicians, they need to make a
different and take actions. Different methods will be introduced throughout each
process of physicianrecruitment.
Orientation New Physician Training
The orientation in practice is more complex than other business organizations. The
federal government and state governments have lots of requirements to practices.

We take that feedback and data and analyze it with a focus on recognizing patterns
and trends, and developing plans to ensure we understand all aspects of our process
and continue to do the things that are adding positive aspects to our work and our
success.
Additionally, we then develop plans to address those patterns and trends that show
areas where we could improve our process. And finally, we continuously analyze all
future data to identify areas of success and areas for improvement, ensuring that our
work environment and outcomes for our stakeholders are of the highest quality.
Our Performance and Quality Improvement Process is based on the Continuous
Quality Improvement Model which focuses on the importance of continuing to ask
Can we do it better? Can we do this more quickly? Is there something else we could
do to improve the quality of care for our clients and the tools for our staff who
deliver this high quality care? In this model, the point is to focus on improvement
even when nothing is wrong.
And so to that end we believe that there must be two things that occur at all times
to ensure this success: we must find ways to involve all our stakeholders in all
levels of our decision making process by providing opportunities for them to give
input and feedback and we must truly live a team approach in all our endeavors.
Health Connect has a strong commitment to ensuring that we hire and train the most

European Transplantation History
Physicians explored the idea of transplantation as early as the European Renaissance
(1300s 1600s). During that era, they found that they could take tissues from one part
of a person s body and graft them surgically attach them to a damaged site. There
were some cases where transplants between two people did not work. Doctors and
scientists continued experiments with animals, making important medical advances
as they went along. About the year 1900, doctors discovered that there were three
major blood groups: A, B, and O. For a successful blood transfusion, or transfer
between two individuals, the donor s blood type must match the recipient s type. The
first successful kidneytransplant was performed by surgeon Joseph E. Murray, in
1954.
Red Scarf Girl Analysis
What would happen if defying the government could result in death? In the memoir
Red Scarf Girl, Ji li describes how everybody had dutifully followed Chairman Mao
and took action in helping the Communist Party. On the other hand, others flouted the
Party. During the events of the Cultural Revolution, Ji li Jianghas self conflicts about
her true beliefs. Ji li once believed in the kindness of the Communist Party and had
confidence that the Cultural Revolutionwould benefit the fate of China. However, Ji
li s beliefs soon change from following the footsteps of Chairman Mao to going
against the Cultural Revolution for the sake of others.
Ji li, similar to the rest of the world, believed in the kindness of the Communist
Party. She believed that it would summon everlasting peace in the world. In fact, Ji
li was one of many proud supporters. Heaven and earth are great, but greater still is
the kindness of the Communist Party; father and mother are dear, but dearer still is
Chairman Mao. (p4) When Ji li says this, it conveys that she was in agreement with
the Party and considered Chairman Mao to be more cherished than her parents.
Because of this, it also hints that she is more likely to take Chairman s Mao side and
not her own parents side.
As the story goes along, Ji li is verbally attacked due to her class status in the
Cultural Revolution. Ji li begins to doubt the kindness of the Communist Party. If he
hadn t been a landlord, none of this would have
A Survivor Of The Holocaust In Vladek s Maus
Maus is a graphic novel about a survivor of the holocaust. The author depicts in the
graphic novel what his father told him about his experience in the holocaust. It is
written about the events of the holocaust. The story begins when the author goes to
his father s house to interview him about his memories of the holocaust. He was
jotting down notes so that he could make a book about his father s life. His father,
Vladek, begins by depicting all the atrocities that he encountered during the
holocaust. He explains his experiences through a series of flashbacks, and he tells
his story through his perspective. He begins his story through his young life in
Sosnowiec, Poland during World War 2. He explains how his life changed when he

Why I Chose The Word Childhood
When I looked over the words for the Personal Definitions Essay, I was at a stand
still. All of the words that were presented seemed great, but still a cliche. For
instance, the easiest word on there has to be Love. How many people on the street
right now could answer What does love mean to you? and it is a universal
definition of one loving another in a caring and loving way. How many people
would give examples of their significant others or their families to show assurance
of this definition? But those people would never talk about the heartbreak they
have gone through loving another. They would never speak of the dark corners of
their souls exposed to someone who didn t care or worse scared and stopped. Love
changes every day. That s why I chose a different route a more challenging route. I
chose the word Childhood. The definition of childhood is a period of life from
birth to puberty with the etymology being old English. Everybody has experienced
childhood, and everybody has a different experience on it but not everybody has
come out the same way. The first person I asked was my friend Brian. We had
decided to hang out on a whim, and I decided this would be the perfect opportunity
of getting some of my research done for this essay. What does Childhood mean to
you? I had joked, and his eyes grew serious at the question. It was in and out of the
hospital, he admitted, gaze long and drawn out. It was never knowing what to expect
the next day. (B. Leathern,
Ancient Egypt And Gizeh Similarities
The great Ancient Egypt civilization is filled with magnificent architecture that
made its culture rich. The Stepped Pyramid by Imhotep, Mortuary precinct of
Djoser 2630 2611 BC, and the Great Pyramids of Gizeh 2490 2228 BC, are an
important part of the Ancient Egypt culture. Also the Ka and Maet played a vital
role in making these monuments. Ancient Egyptians really cared about their
Pharaohs and Gods and did anything to keep them satisfied, even if it meant to
carry a 2.5 ton block up 450 feet. The Pyramids of Gizeh and the Stepped Pyramid
have some similarities, many differences, and have a major influence in keeping the
Ka of the pharaoh happy .
First the similarities between the Stepped Pyramid and the Pyramid of Gizeh are

Starting off, the Stepped Pyramid is the first pyramid made from permanent lime
stone. In addition, the Stepped Pyramid was made by a very respected artist
Imhotep. Imhotep used fiance and engaged columns in the stepped pyramid to
give respect to the old architectures, and the Stepped Pyramid walls mimics walls
that surround the royal palace. At the same time, Imhotep wanted to stack mastaba
s on top of each other so it could symbolize a giant stair case for king Djoser to
climb to heaven. Even more, the corridor walls block all light and the fake
buildings represent shrines of the upper and lower kingdoms. More over, the
Stepped Pyramid has a sed port in which the kings jubilee takes place. In contrast,
The Pyramids of Gizeh had there burial chambers in the middle pyramid the heart .
Also the Pyramids of Gizeh are the largest pyramids that were made in Ancient Egypt
. The Pyramids of Gizeh have a sphinx in the monumental area and were made to
symbolize Ben Ben or better known Ra. Last the highest Pyramid of Gizeh is 450
feet tall but originally 480 with the 30 feet being solid gold that fell off and the base
cover 13 acres consisted of 2 million blocks that weighed 2.5

Introduction Of A Descriptive Essay. Descriptive Essay Examples College

  • 1. Introduction Of A Descriptive Essay Crafting an essay on the intricacies of introducing a descriptive essay presents its own set of challenges. The difficulty lies not only in the need for a clear understanding of the subject matter but also in the art of engaging the reader from the very beginning. One must delicately balance providing essential information about what a descriptive essay entails while simultaneously creating a captivating introduction that sparks the reader's interest. Describing something with vivid details and evoking sensory experiences requires a keen observational eye and a mastery of language. The challenge is not only to communicate the physical attributes of the subject but also to convey the emotions and atmosphere associated with it. This demands a thoughtful selection of words and phrases to paint a vivid picture in the reader's mind. Additionally, striking the right tone is crucial. The introduction sets the stage for the entire essay, and finding the appropriate balance between being informative and engaging can be a delicate task. Too much information might overwhelm the reader, while too little may leave them puzzled or disinterested. Moreover, grappling with the challenge of originality can be daunting. The introduction should not only serve as a guide to what follows but also as a unique expression that captures the essence of the descriptive essay in a way that stands out from generic approaches. In conclusion, composing an essay on introducing a descriptive essay requires navigating through the complexities of balancing information, engaging the reader, employing vivid language, and maintaining originality. It is a task that demands careful consideration of every word and phrase to create an introduction that not only informs but captivates. While challenging, mastering this art can significantly enhance one's ability to communicate effectively through descriptive writing. • 2. Effective Communication As A Health Care Professional Communication is about more than just exchanging information. It s about understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. Effective communication is how you convey a message so that it is received and understood by someone in exactly the way you intended (L. Robinson, J. Segal, Ph. D., M. Smith. 2015). This paper looks at the requirements of effective communication as a health care professional and the essential concepts to have as a registered nurse. Effective communication assists with many circumstances in clinical situations. Arnold, Boggs, Barraclough, Levett Jones and Grover have discussed that different communication styles can be used to create stronger therapeutic relationships. Ideas supporting this argument are the effects of establishing a strong client nurse relationship and understanding the bridges to help construct and build a therapeutic relationship. Effective communication benefits us to enhance our understanding of a person. Determining the appropriate communication style to be used enables us, as a health care professional to resolve differences, build respect and trust, and be key in producing environments in which problem solving, creating ideas and caring can flourish. A therapeutic relationship is professional, interpersonal alliance in which the nurse and client join together for a defined period to achieve health related treatment goals (Arnold and Boggs, 2011 p. 38). The authors evaluate basic communication concepts and how

I would ve enrolled by now however I literally can t, the reason for why I can t is because I am in a little bit of a financial bind at the moment. You see, this whole semester I have been trying to get the financial aid office to fix my award money by filling out a special consideration form because at around this time last year my mom got laid off from work and hasn t been able to find a job since then, however due to a mistake within the financial aid office they had records that said that my familywas making twice the amount of money than previous years, when that is the farthest from the truth we could get. As a result from this misinformation, financial aid took away all of my grants and when I spoke with them about what is going on, they handed me a Special Consideration Form and told me that I shouldn t have to sign up for a payment plan since I should ve been guaranteed to get my grants back. Even though I should have stayed on the side of caution and had my parents sign up for a payment plan, I listened to Financial Aid and told my parents what they had told me and they decided to not sign up for a plan. As luck would have it, after I turned in my forms they then misplaced them and I had to resubmit everything again towards the end of October despite the fact that I had majority of what they had requested in, they misplaced a form that was crucial ... • 5. Theme Of Courage In To Kill A Mockingbird Bravery, showing mental or moral strength to face danger, is a crucial word in To Kill A Mockingbird. This book takes place in the South during the 1930 s, a time of prejudice and racism. At this time, one was ridiculed if one s beliefs were not the same as the traditional beliefs of the town. Bravery is vital to go against society. Courage is a major theme in Harper Lee s, To Kill A Mockingbird, and is demonstrated throughout the book by Mrs.Dubose, Boo Radley, and Atticus. Courage is a major theme that is demonstrated throughout the book by Mrs.Dubose. She was fighting a losing battle up until her final breaths. She was determined to die free of everything and she was brave enough to keep fighting. Mrs.Dubose displayed true courage as shown in the quote, ...I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It s when you know you re licked before you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do. Mrs.Dubose won... She said she meant to break herself of it before she died, and that s what she did (127). Mrs.Dubose was a character who exhibited true courage until the end. Another character who demonstrates courage is Atticus. He displays bravery when he shot Tim Johnson, and when he accepted Tom Robinson s case. When the whole town was hiding in their houses, Atticus stepped up to the task of killing Tim Johnson. Several things could have gone astray, as shown in the quote, Miss and you ll go straight into the Radley house! (110). Despite the consequences of missing, Atticus rose to the challenge. While everyone waited for Tim Johnson to pass, Atticus was courageous enough to walk outside and shoot Tim. He knew his responsibility to the town and instead of cowering behind the safety of his house, he faced Tim Johnson head on.

  • 7. Parens Patriae Model Vs. Police Powers Model I believe Ashleigh, Donna, and Grace made significant points for each of the models, but I think parens patriae model remains more effective than the police powers model. Parens patriae refers to the concept when the government acts as a protector for individuals who can t make decisions about their wellbeing due to a mental disorder or a physical illness. For example, people who are diagnosed with infectious tuberculosis are involuntarily quarantined by the government. On the other hand, police powers refer to the concept where the police have the authority to control individuals who daunt public order even if they are mentally or physically disabled. For example, parens patriae acts as a preventive method to stop mentally disordered individuals before they commit crimes, which also benefits the society by reducing crime levels. Police powers model remains significant because it doesn t discriminate between ordinary citizens and mentally disordered citizens when they commit crimes since both types of people will be detained by the police. Also, the police powers model protects members of the society because it detains individuals who commit crimes and reject social norms, even if they are mentally or physically
  • 8. Roosevelt, Immigration, and Americanism Essay example As one of the presidents during the Progressive Era, Theodore Roosevelt led the United States of America through a series of dramatic changes that interrupted the lives and ideologies that Americans during the time were more than familiarized with. Industrialization, women s suffrage, the sexual revolution, imperialism, and muckraking journalism were just a few of the controversial, yet significant characteristics of this era. However, perhaps one of the largest and most vital influences during this time period came from the outside. Immigration was an issue that Roosevelt himself addressed rather perceptibly in his paper entitled True Americanism, which first appeared in a magazine called The Forum in April, 1894. However, it is not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The immigrants were not the only ones undergoing difficulty, however. The United States also experienced difficulty taking in the immigrants. Since almost all immigrants were in dire need of jobs, they tended to settle in urban areas where jobs could be easily located. Often times, immigrants would settle in areas dominated by other immigrants who speak the same language or were from the same country. Consequently, the cities became more congested than ever, and city services were not always successful in keeping up with the surge of newcomers. Although most immigrants were able to find and pursue jobs, many of them were jobs that native born Americans refused to practice. Regardless of their jobs, living conditions, and/or nationalities, immigrants grew to play a huge part in many areas of American society. According to Roosevelt, Americanism is a characteristic of those Americans who perform their allotted tasks by facing them steadily and bravely, seeing but not fearing the dangers (6). It is a sense of brotherhood. As Roosevelt states in his paper: Above all, we must stand shoulder to shoulder, not asking as to the ancestry or creed of our comrades [immigrants], but only demanding that they be in very truth Americans, and that we all work together, heart, hand, and head, for the honor and the greatness of our common country (6). Consequently, after different generations of both black and white people, they were all born with a burden into this world. These generations were eventually born into a society with the burdens of their ancestors. The fight against oppression and racism. Recently in the United States, there are many that believe we can all come together and live happily. These people usually pursue interracial relationships. Regardless of our history, we should be able to marry or date outside of our race. Does it pose a threat to either side? No, it does not. People need to think of it as gaining knowledge about other people. It s an exchange of true love and an exchange of culture that satisfies the relationship. Interracial relationships have always been controversial. Whether it is about families disapproving of the other individual or because of the different backgrounds that contain large amounts of racial tension. In modern US society, interracial relationships are viewed as very disputable. There are two different sides, which are those who accept it and others that completely oppose it. However, interracial relationships should be more accepted today because there is a lot more to gain. Have you ever seen an interracial couple while you were just strolling down the street? Or seen a mixed looking child? That proves that interracial marriages are becoming more abundant and universal every day. In 2015, there were 11 million couples that consisted of many other races including black, Asian and white (Kristen Bialik Key facts about race and marriage, 50 years after Loving v. Virginia ). In 1967, it was finally legal for any couple consisting of two different races to get married (by the U.S. Supreme court). This law showed Americans that it s totally okay to be from two completely different races and live happily together. Additionally, in the 1990 s, it helped deteriorate the seperation of blacks and whites. In 1963 they obtained help from the American Civil Liberties Union, which unsuccessfully sought to reverse their convictions in

Romantic Love Essay Romantic love as a cultural script includes the belief that love is all you need; true love lasts forever; true lovers become one; love is pure and good; and anything done in the name of love cannot be wrong (Ben Ze ev Goussinsky, 2008). Romantic ideology encompasses positive aspects of love, such as mutual devotion and intimacy. This influence is present in a beginning scene where Angela is talking to Mamen about her boyfriend and stating her faithfulness. She explains how she is able to separate the job (prostitution) from her loyalty. Even if work is busy, 30 guys in a day, she will continue to be faithful. Later on, Caya is on a date with Manuel and she asks him that question. She basically cries when he replies that he would definitely pick her up from work. Zulema also contributes to the romantic script by showing us some affiliation as she cooks for one of her returning clients. A final instance that is in the grey area between insanity and romantic love is Caya s mother, Pilar. Looping into the ideology that true love lasts forever, we can see how Pilar continues to love her dead husband because she does not accept the fact he has passed. During the film, Pilar consistently receives flowers to her house from an anonymous sender. At first perception we can think she has a secret admirer. Subsequently, her son supports the idea of the admirer, but Pilar insists that they are from her husband. It is later revealed by Caya that she had been sending flowers to herself the whole time. Physical attractiveness is especially important to men choosing a prospective sexual partner or mate, as shown by research in many cultures. Males will usually choose good looks, whereas women favor personal qualities and earning abilities. Preference is also determined by sexist attitudes about gender roles. People with more sexist beliefs about gender role ideologies prefer partners who have traditional masculine/feminine qualities (Crawford, 2012). Using the films schema, we can identify good looks as big breasts, big butts, nice hair, fixed nails, and a clean appearance overall. Caya

Both options were so problematic politically and militarily that policymakers who were familiar with the Manhattan Project found it difficult to oppose the bomb s use. Since the Casablanca conference, achieving Japanese surrender as early as possible following the capitulation of Germany had been the strategic objective in the Pacific. However, on May 25th, 1945 Truman had stated a new objective of economizing American lives to the greatest extent possible. The Army plan for invading Kyushu was the most costly option in terms of lives, but it was the quickest. It was based on a directive to end the war in the Pacific within 12 months of V E Day. Casualty estimates for the first thirty days of operations against Kyushu ranged from 30,000 to 50, 000. The Army plan was grossly handicapped by its reliance on Soviet entry into the Pacific War. General Douglas MacArthur considered a Soviet attack in Manchuria a prerequisite for invasion. Considering the Polish crisis of April 1945 and growing tensions over Soviet behavior in occupied Europe, Soviet involvement in East Asia was less than desirable. The best recommendation of the Navy was a plan that offered no reasonable prediction of when Japan would be defeated. The Army plan for invasion, which the JCS approved over the Navy plan, required Soviet entry into the war to ensure success. Their entry would allow them to consolidate their Yalta concessions in Manchuria and possibly allow them to exert influence over China. In addition to this diplomatic problem, the invasion plan was the more costly in terms of casualties. Truman

Each approach touches the consumer and the Earth; it defines if the business is socially accountable for humanity. When the ethical philosophy a company follows is for universal individual rights regardless of the outcome, it is moral idealism. In contrast, when only considering the greater good for the greatest number and appraising cost and the benefit of the choice it is utilitarianism. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of cellular adhesion in homotypic cell cell contact is vital in the construction of basic tissues into differentiated organs and body systems (Pokutta, Drees, Yamada, Nelson Weis, 2008). In the adhesion complex responsible for adherence, like cells are attracted to like cells during specialization, creating the separation of organ systems such as the tissue of skin from the tissue of the lung. When homologous cells are in proximity to one another, they form tight adhesion junctions that strengthen over time, commonly recognized as adherens junctions. These flexible, but stable junctions have specific chemical and molecular components that enable cells to adhere to each other and remain attached during development to retain integrity (Maiden Hardin, 2011). The adherens junctions control cell cell adhesion in live epithelial tissues. A various number of proteinacious molecules work with one another to create tissues. The molecules that form adherens junctions include: cadherin, vinculin, p120 catenin, beta catenin, and catenin (Jordan, 2008). The assembly of these molecules between two epithelial cells can be seen (Figure 1). These molecules responsible for adherens junctions were discovered roughly thirty years ago. Specifically, an immunoprecipitation experiment on cadherin proteins removed from epithelial cells through detergent precipitation (Pokutta et. al, 2008). Women are more likely than men to develop this disorder. It can occur at any age, including childhood, and there is some evidence that shows PTSD may run in families. The disorder is often accompanied by depression, substance abuse, or one or more other anxiety disorders. PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened. Traumatic events that may trigger this anxiety include violent personal assaults, natural or human caused disasters, accidents, or military combat. People that suffer from PTSD have persistent frightening thoughts and memories of the frightening event and feel emotionally numb. This especially happens with people they were once close to. They may experience sleep problems, feel detached or numb, or be easily startled. Panic Disorder: Panic disorder affects about 2.4 million adult Americans. It is twice as common in women as in men. It most often begins during late adolescence or early adulthood. Risk of developing panic disorder appears to be inherited. Not everyone who experiences panic

We noticed this trend decades ago and have been trying to explain it. A drama can be based on several aspects, including but not limited to reality and novels and cross over into several other genres of movies. Very often, we see drama crossed with comedy, action, romance, etc., in turn making it the most common genre of movies (Dirks, 2015). Drama focuses on realistic characters with a realistic story line, high intensity special effects are not usually prevalent in dramas. The Help, A Christmas Carol, Mr. Mom, are the dramas chosen that I feel depict race, social class, and gender representation each at a very different level, based on the time period implied in the movie. COMMONALITIES AND CHOSEN ISSUES If I am going to see a movie based on a novel I have read, for example, The Help, I have a preconceived notion of what this movie is going to be about and expectations based on the previews prior to entering the movie theater. An additional spin on this movie, which often makes the actors and directors work more difficult, the book became popular prior to the movie being created. Very often when books are in place prior to the movie, readers have visualizations of what the characters look like, how they will sound, etc. The Help is categorized as a drama, and

Among 34 developed countries, the United States ranked 26th in math, 21st in science and 17th in reading (Mercury News 2013). Many people believe that US educational system is flawed and that urgently needs to be fixed. They debate whether sports should be a required part of elementary education. Assuming that bad test results have nothing to do with sports, should sports be a required part of elementary education? This concept is conveniently backed by the elders of Naram SГ®m, who were successful in claiming that these attributes came in the form of being divine. This claim to divinity literally underpinned their ascension to power and the relegation of everyone else; rulers were to be revered for their beauty and power because it was truly their god given right. Can we do this more quickly? Is there something else we could do to improve the quality of care for our clients and the tools for our staff who deliver this high quality care? In this model, the point is to focus on improvement even when nothing is wrong. And so to that end we believe that there must be two things that occur at all times to ensure this success: we must find ways to involve all our stakeholders in all levels of our decision making process by providing opportunities for them to give input and feedback and we must truly live a team approach in all our endeavors. • 43. European Transplantation History Physicians explored the idea of transplantation as early as the European Renaissance (1300s 1600s). During that era, they found that they could take tissues from one part of a person s body and graft them surgically attach them to a damaged site. There were some cases where transplants between two people did not work. Doctors and scientists continued experiments with animals, making important medical advances as they went along. About the year 1900, doctors discovered that there were three major blood groups: A, B, and O. For a successful blood transfusion, or transfer between two individuals, the donor s blood type must match the recipient s type. The first successful kidneytransplant was performed by surgeon Joseph E. Murray, in 1954.

  • 46. Why I Chose The Word Childhood When I looked over the words for the Personal Definitions Essay, I was at a stand still. All of the words that were presented seemed great, but still a cliche. For instance, the easiest word on there has to be Love. How many people on the street right now could answer What does love mean to you? and it is a universal definition of one loving another in a caring and loving way. How many people would give examples of their significant others or their families to show assurance of this definition? But those people would never talk about the heartbreak they have gone through loving another. They would never speak of the dark corners of their souls exposed to someone who didn t care or worse scared and stopped. Love changes every day. That s why I chose a different route a more challenging route. I chose the word Childhood. The definition of childhood is a period of life from birth to puberty with the etymology being old English. Everybody has experienced childhood, and everybody has a different experience on it but not everybody has come out the same way. The first person I asked was my friend Brian. We had decided to hang out on a whim, and I decided this would be the perfect opportunity of getting some of my research done for this essay. What does Childhood mean to you? I had joked, and his eyes grew serious at the question. It was in and out of the hospital, he admitted, gaze long and drawn out. It was never knowing what to expect the next day. (B. Leathern,
