The city of Pflugerville has four improvement projects on the books for one of its busiest thoroughfares. The improvements are slated for intersections, each with its own timeline and estimated costs.

Here’s more information on each project and their timelines.

FM 685/Dessau Road

This project will create a displaced left turn lane and signal improvements at Pecan Street and FM 685/Dessau Road. The City Council on Jan. 28 approved a $416,276 supplemental agreement with Pacheco Koch Consulting Engineers for services related to the project.

Design and construction of the project, which will be in coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation, is expected to finish by summer 2021 at a projected cost of $2 million, city staff said.

Texas 130

Improvements include adding a third west-to-east lane on Pecan Street near the toll road. The project, which coincides with the city’s secretive Project Charm development, will also create a raised median from the west side of Pecan Street extending to the Texas 130 frontage road.

City staff said they are reviewing plans and will coordinate with the Project Charm developer and the Texas Department of Transportation. City staff estimate the project will be completed by summer 2021.

Heatherwilde Boulevard

This project will add two through lanes in both the north and south directions by moving over an existing dedicated left turn lane and using an existing median to improve efficiency, city staff said.

City staff said plans for the project are 90% complete, with a request for bids to begin in late spring or early summer. The project is expected to take no longer than 18 months, city staff said. City staff could not provide a start date or cost for the project.

Biltmore Avenue

This project consists of installing a traffic signal at the Biltmore Avenue intersection with signage and pavement markings. Plans call for restricting left turns in and out of Impact Way for increased safety, city staff said.

The City Council on Feb. 11 approved a construction contract for the traffic signal at a cost of $261,457. Construction is slated to begin in March and finish by summer 2021.
