- Hello, I am a patrician, a wealthy and rich roman who made the laws, owned the lands, and were the ruling class of the early Roman Empire.
- Hello...I am a plebeian, a member of the low class citizens of the poor. We were farmers, craftsmen, laborers, and soldiers of Rome.
- We couldn't hold a public office, we had to follow the patrician's rules, and we couldn't even marry patricians! We finally had enough of it and went on a protest.
- Please keep working!
- The Patricians kept asking for the Plebeians to Continue working for them, fighting in the army, risking their lives, but they all said no.
- The plebeians wanted to get more and more rights and freedom and fairness, so they refused to do anything until they got what they wanted. They could now marry patricians and hold a public office.
- Fine...I'll give you more freedom and rights for you to continue working for us.
- One of the first thing they got from the patricians was The Law of the Twelve Tables. The Twelve Tables were laws that were posted in the public for all to see. They protected some basic rights of all Roman citizens regardless of their social class.
