Description

Extemporaneous speaking is one of the most beneficial (and fun!) public speaking events you can teach your speech and debate students in order for them to improve their quick-thinking, time management, organization, research, and vocal delivery skills! This secondary “Guide to Extemporaneous Speaking” teaches your students the basics of this speaking event and walks them through the process of drawing a topic, organizing, outlining, and delivering their own extemp speech! Middle school and high school students all over the world compete in this classic speaking event!

After purchasing this product, you will have access to a PDF document with the following Google links:

1.) Guide to Extemporaneous Speaking Slideshow

2.) Student Clickable Notes (to pair with slideshow)

3.) Extemporaneous Speech Outline for Students

4.) Extemporaneous Speech Rubric

**You will ALSO have access to a list of websites that offer FREE extemporaneous speaking practice topics for students! Their topic lists are updated regularly to address current issues and events.

Although the traditional extemp speech (as described in the slideshow notes) is 7 minutes long with only 30 minutes of preparation time, you can modify the requirements for your students. Some teachers give beginner students several days to work on the speech before delivery, in order to get them accustomed to the quick-thinking/organization/delivery process. Eventually, they can work their way up to the required time constraints of the event.

Feel free to ask questions before purchasing. And, as always, your feedback is encouraged and welcome!
