Commonly known as Silverberry, this variety of Elaeagnus is a medium-sized, evergreen shrub renowned for both its foliage and flowers. The lush leaves are deep green with a silvery hue and held densely on short stems. The white flowers in autumn are small and fragrant, and are followed by orange berries. It typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide, and can be contained with trimming. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, coastal conditions, and dry periods once established. Silverberry is commonly trimmed into a hedge, used for topiary, included in coastal gardens, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, planted for screening purposes, or included in mixed plantings.
