A band of rain pushes southeastwards and weakens through the course of the day. Showery conditions follow it, and the next few days are looking mixed. However, the start of the meteorological spring on Friday is likely to coincide with chilly conditions and there is a risk of sleet or snow in the north, particularly over high ground. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and contribute to its ongoing development, explore the payment options, see below)

Brighter and showery conditions follow behind it. In the south east it remains dry, but it becomes increasingly cloudy.

Temperatures range from 6°C in Scotland to 10°C in south west England. You can check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight, the remnants of the rain clear southeastwards. Clear spells then lead to quite a widespread frost, but later on cloud builds from the west and rain pushes into Northern Ireland and western Scotland.

Tomorrow, outbreaks of rain push eastwards across much of the UK, but they become patchy. The south east and East Anglia are likely to remain mostly dry until the late afternoon. Windy. Temperatures generally a little higher than in recent days.

Chilly weekend

Thursday is looking mixed. Outbreaks of rain spread southeastwards and they may linger in the south east and East Anglia for much of the day. Drier conditions follow, but in the north west showers are likely. In the north it turns colder.

The meteorological spring begins on Friday, but the weather may have a wintry flavour to it. Showery weather is expected and in the north there is a risk of sleet and snow, especially over high ground. Rather chilly.

Saturday is currently looking rather cold. With areas of low pressure close to the UK further showers or longer spells of rain are possible. In the north it could be cold enough for showers to be wintry at low levels, with snow over high ground.
