Laputa

A country in the skies, learning and mastering the art of steam-powered technology. While there are settlements in the snowy hills on the ground, most of the civilization is on the floating sky ships, the largest being the capital city of Castle.

Structure

Laputans do not have a ruling entity like many others. Instead, each city governs itself according to what they need to do, as many were formed by like minded scientists towards a single goal. However, there is a head of innovation that decides on emergency measures and protective efforts for the outside.

Culture

The society of Laputa has long since prided itself on innovation and invention, always aiming to create the best new science of technology for the sake of themselves or the world. Whether this has been their heating and cooling technologies, their new ballistic weaponry, or mechanical soldiers, if there's a need Laputans will race to solve it a million ways.

Assets

In the snowy fields there are various plants and fruits that thrive off of the cold temperatures surprisingly, and Silver Steel Ore that contain icy elemental energy within them, keeping them cool in even hotter temperatures, even as they become hot enough to be smithed. In the flying cities however, the greatest assets are the steam-based technology and short-distance electric bursts.

History

Laputa was originally a territory within Atalanta, where many factories were built. During the event known as The Grand Expulsion, Laputa was one of the areas where beast races were safe, which resulted in many beast races joining the work force. During The Border Wars, a large amount of mistreated workers were used to turn these factory cities into a flying space, which was a shaky success. However, this resulted in a rebellion by the mistreated workers, who killed the oppressing nobles and demanded secession from Atalanta, at risk of using the floating factories against them. They were allowed, and since then their only goal has been progress and development.

Demography and Population

Hosting the most Beast races outside of Alicein, most of the residents are Aarakocra and Kenku, and on the ground Tabaxi, Bugbears, and Minotaurs are aplenty in the cold snows, with a few elves and other scientifically minded people of all kinds of races.

Territories

The land of Laputa is a constantly cold and icy region, with snow covering all the hills.

Military

The soldiers of Laputa rarely deal with more than local struggles and defense, not desiring to turn their gaze outwards for the most part. The only exceptions would be President Barbenfoullis' guard, as they need to prepare for many situations.

Technological Level

The most scientifically advanced country of Edda, relying less and less on Magic each year, and instead being powered by scientific energies.

Religion

Laputans don't have a religion more than a belief system, The Great Blue, a universal sense and desire for progression and development to keep the eyes towards the future.

Foreign Relations

Laputa has direct allegiances with all countries of Edda, as many of them envy and desire the technology and advancements made by their people. But, it is a shaky allegiance since Laputas mobility and advancements leave paranoid members of those counties wondering if they will be attacked.

Agriculture & Industry

Laputa is 95% Industry focused, but on the land there is a decent amount of Agriculture farming specialized winter fruits and vegetables that're specialties and delicacies in other parts of Edda.

Trade & Transport

Laputan Ice Steel and Winter Crops are the most traded materials, but the technology and appliances made in the floating cities are what countries desire most of all. Not only do they have dedicated rail systems on the ground, but they have flying carts that can go decent distances to deliver their items.

Education

Laputa has one of the highest standards for education within the 10 countries of Edda, with specialized vocational schools, standard 13-year education, and many institutes for secondary education both magical and mundane.

Infrastructure

While the earth-cities of Laputa are basic and well-maintained, the sky-cities have vastly more advanced infrastructures that finds a new use for every kind of waste and discarded product in one way or another, even if the details can be a bit nasty.

Mythology & Lore

Laputa doesn't have a religion more than it has a core philosophy, which they refer to as The Great Blue. A sense of being a minute part of a vast, unending expanse of life, and the desire to discover everything and anything within it.

Major Exports
Laputa exports many of their inventions, especially the venting technology they use for their deep laboratories, utilized within the Agarthan Circles primarily, and also of use to the underwater cities within Atalanta. Alongside that, Laputan Snow-Fruits are a sweet delicacy, and a cold snack during the warm summer months.
Major Imports
The cold environment of Laputa doesn't lend itself well for animal-rearing, so Laputans have to import a decent amount of meat and animal products, but they are masters of preserving it. For the flying cities, they accept different kinds of metals and conductive materials that cannot be easily found or made within their own walls, yet.
Legislative Body
Laputa is a mostly autonomous area, as scientists are left to their own devices. However, there is an organization of Law Scientists that make a set of guidelines to keep experiments A) Ethical B) Non-destructive and C) Original
Judicial Body
There are many Steelwind Knights who take the job of defense, if they are not the most scientifically gifted, but President Barbenfoullis does have his own sect of "royal" Knights.
