La Libertad capital of the “Northern Marinera” is a department located in Peru. Its capital is Trujillo. It has two attractions considered World Heritage Sites: Chan Chan and the Rio Abiseo National Park.

THE HUACA OF THE SUN AND THE MOON

They are ancient constructions belonging to the Moche culture. It is said that these places were the capital of the Moche culture. The huaca del sol, is made with adobe (earth bricks). It has a pyramidal shape.

The Huaca de la Luna has figures engraved on its walls that represent deities. Aiapaec, known as the slaughtering god, stands out. These murals maintain their vivid colors to this day.

It is located in the Magdalena de Cao district, Ascope Province. The importance of this place lies in the fact that the tomb of a RULING WOMAN was found. She possibly she was the only woman who had power in ancient Peru. The archaeological complex el brujo, is one of the most important in La Libertad. It is made up of three Huacas:

Huaca Prieta. It dates back to 12,500 BC. They are possibly the remains of ancient sedentary farmers. They did not know pottery.
Huaca Cao Viejo. It is an adobe construction in the shape of a truncated pyramid. It could be a place of sacrifice. In this place the tomb of a woman was found. She is considered to have been a ruler and soothsayer, due to the jewels found and the tattoos still visible.
