udiksvall, with 16.000 inhabitants was during the 19th century a 

major centre of the Swedish timber industry. 

Today the city is the centre of the county of Hälsingland, one of the 

most beautiful landscapes in Sweden. 

SHORE EXCURSIONS: 

Tour around the Dellen Lakes 

Scenic view of a fantastic landscape. Visit to a collection of old farm 

houses. 

Långvind Tour 

Visit an old medieval church, Långvind Ironworks established in 1687 

and Långvind Mansion, built in 1799. 

Tour Hälsingland farm houses 

The unique farm houses of Hälsingland from the 18th and 19th centuries 

are called the “timber palaces” . 

City Walk 

Visit The Hälsinglands Museum, Fishermen’s town (old part of Hudiksvall) 

and Jakobs church. Most of the entrances are wide enough to 

accommodate wheelchairs. 

Folk Music Gathering 

Hudiksvall is well known for its traditional local music. In summer, you 

can enjoy concerts in homestead museums, churches and hill farms. 

There are also meetings of traditional fiddlers and other musicians, 

that are open to the public. It is not unusual for such events to gather 

thousands of participants and spectators. Most meetings are part of the 

festival Music by the Dellen Lakes.

rnsköldsvik is a part of the World Heritage Area "Höga Kusten" (the High 

Coast) with its magnificent views and fantastic archipelago. People have 

been living here since the Stone Age and have helped shape the landscape 

we see today. The population is 55.000 of which 35.000 live in the central region and 

the town of Örnsköldsvik. 


The High Coast World Heritage 

You will visit Skuleskogen and the mighty Skuleberget, rising 295 metres above 

sea level, a symbol of the High Coast. In the program also is a visit to Mjälloms 

Tunnbröd, a genuine High Coast flatbread bakery, and Mannaminne, a 

museum village created so that you can see everything that happened during 

the life time of the inhabitants. In the afternoon Norrfällsviken, the outermost 

archipelago of the High Coast. 

Fiskevistet: Skagshamn and Skeppsmalen 

are old fishing villages in the High Coast, an old pilot boat station and genuine 

fishing sheds. Visit Fiskevistet- the world´s first surströmming museum and 

restaurant. (surströmming - fermented herring)You’ll also find a well preserved 

fishermen’s chapel dating back to the mid-17th century here. Visit also Skags 

udde, the furthest outpost where a light house is situated by the cliffs. Visit 

Bruksgodset, pottery with shop and open workshop. 

The City Centre 

The City centre is situated within less than five minutes walking distance from 

the harbour. Guided tours or stroll on your own. Visit Örnsköldsvik Museum 

and Art Gallery, and the Museum of Hans Hedberg. If you are interested in 

golf you’ll find Veckefjärden within a couple of minutes by car. Go to Varvsberget, 

the mountain within walking distance where you have a beautiful view 

over the town and the archipelago. Plenty of cafés and restaurants. 

Outside of Örnsköldsvik 

Strutsfarmen, Gerdal, Ostrichfarm, handicrafts, country café and restaurant. 

Churches & local history museums 

There are several churches of interest, for instance Själevad church, 

declared Swedens most beautiful church in a nationwide vote a few years ago. 

Källarbackens Saga (Fairy Tale Trail) 

Meet Hansel & Gretel and other characters from the Fairy tales. 

Gammelgården, Myckelgensjö, one of Sweden's best preserved farms from 

the 18th century, with 28 buildings.

ori, established in 1558, with a population of 82.500, is an industrial 

city with a great cultural heritage and presence. 

The Pori Jazz Festival, every summer, is one of the biggest in Europe. 


Reposaari – The maritime fishermen’s village of Pori, Finland. 

Reposaari offers magnificent maritime scenery and places of interest like 

a Norwegian-style fjeld church and an Old Garrision park. 

Villa Mairea – the place of pilgrimage of architects. 

Villa Mairea was built in 1939 based on the designs of the world known 

architects Aino and Alvar Aalto. The designers were given a free hand 

and an opportunity for unrestricted experimentation. This unique 

work of art attained worldwide recognition as one of the greatest 

masterpieces of 20th-century architecture. 

City walk, an easy-going jazz city. 

The parks, the marketplace, the market hall and the pedestrian street 

offer visitors a pleasant and lively environment in the city center of Pori. 

Pori Art Museum has been famous for its modern art exhibitions for 

almost two decades and has from the beginning focused on the new 

phenomena of the visual arts. 

The Juselius Mausoleum was built by a local industrialist, F.A. Juselius, for 

his daughter, who died at the age of 11. The original frescos, painted by 

the artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela, were later destroyed. The wall paintings 

seen today are the work of artist Jorma Gallen-Kallela, who painted 

them in his father’s style.

Gulf of Bothnia Marketing project 2011-2012 

More than 25000 passengers have visited our destinations since the Bothnia Cruise Ports 

marketing project started in 2005. From mid May to early August 24 hours daylight can be 

experienced here. What about golfing in sunshine, swimming from the beaches or even just 

relish the special feeling of being within the Arctic Circle. Six UNESCO World heritage sites 

within reach from the ports. 

The Rokua Geopark just outside Oulu brings you back to the Ice Age. What is significant for 

our area – besides the special light deep forests, rapid water falls, wonderful archipelagos and 

not to forget clean and fresh air. Meet also the Sámi people and their culture in Lapland.
