In its “Test Systems” division, KRATZER AUTOMATION plans<br />

and implements test benches for the automotive industry,<br />

primarily for turbochargers, engines, gear chains and<br />

other drive train components. In particular, the company<br />

focuses on developing test systems for energy-saving and<br />

environmentally-friendly drive concepts such as hybrid or<br />

electric drives and fuel cell technology. The various types<br />

of test bench are controlled by the <strong>PAtools</strong> software. User<br />

interface and test procedures can be flexibly adapted as<br />

needed and users benefit from uniform system technology.<br />

The testXplorer software administers test data in the testing<br />

environment and so ensures greater transparency and<br />

efficient use of resources.<br />

The scalable, modular manufacturing execution system intra-<br />

FACTORY® offers greater transparency and more efficient<br />

processes in electronics and equipment manufacturing, in<br />

particular as regards product and process traceability, material<br />

and setup management as well as the integration of<br />

repair stations. intraFACTORY® covers all process steps from<br />

incoming goods to finished products. To further enhance efficiency<br />

in order processing and capacity utilization, KRATZER<br />

AUTOMATION offers solutions for granular production planning<br />

based on its advanced planning and scheduling tool<br />

intraFACTORY® Scheduler. The portfolio of the Integrated<br />

Manufacturing division is rounded off by software for the<br />

control of complex automated devices and the integration of<br />

machines in customer-specific software systems.<br />

The Logistics <strong>Automation</strong> division at KRATZER AUTOMATION<br />

delivers cadisTRANSPORT TMS, a transport management<br />

system for optimizing the planning, execution and analysis<br />

of all operative work processes for freight transport.<br />

<strong>PAtools</strong> is the new tool for the automation of all types<br />

of test systems. The multiplicity of our deployed systems<br />

ranges from test benches for single components up to<br />

complete test centers. “Software for Efficient Processes”<br />

is our theme for open, flexible and user friendly test systems.<br />

<strong>PAtools</strong> relies on proven, off-the-shelf industry hardware of leading<br />

suppliers. As an independent solution provider we choose<br />

the configuration which best fits your specific needs. Thus we<br />

can accommodate the partly contradictory requirement of highest<br />

performance at low cost in an optimal fashion.<br />

Complex test benches combine the functions of most different<br />

subsystems like dynamic drives, measurement devices and<br />

control elements. With a permanently growing library of over 50<br />

device drivers <strong>PAtools</strong> can integrate a broad range from subsystems<br />

of various manufacturers via open interfaces.<br />

With <strong>PAtools</strong> you are not limited to the solution specified when<br />

your system was installed. Beside changes of parameters and<br />

sequences you can also modify and completely redefine your<br />

testing application with the help of the deployed standard development<br />

tools. If you want to go further, you can link your own<br />

program code by means of our interface to MATLAB/ SIMULINK ®<br />

and various programming languages.<br />

<strong>PAtools</strong> unifies the comfort of the common Windows environment<br />

with the stability and performance of a real-time operation system.<br />

The testing program will be processed on its own real-time computer,<br />

whereas the user interface and the visualization run on a<br />

standard Windows PC.<br />

The priority-controlled real-time operating system guarantees shortest<br />

nano-second reaction times. A performance you need to fulfill<br />

your and your customer’s high demands in signal processing,<br />

control and simulation.<br />

Especially during design and debugging of a test you frequently<br />

need to adopt operating points, nominal values and limits. Until<br />

now you lost valuable time in stopping the test, re-translating<br />

the program and starting anew. Now with <strong>PAtools</strong> things work<br />

out much faster and easier! Without stopping your test bench,<br />

you cannot only vary parameters, but also exchange complex<br />

objects like sequences at runtime “online” in the <strong>PAtools</strong> realtime<br />

system. Also during this dynamic re-loading you utilize the<br />

comfort of your common tool chain without any restraint and<br />

interruption: All pre-defined safety criteria will further be adhered<br />

to, uninterrupted traceability of your testing sequence<br />

is guaranteed and all your run-time changes are automatically<br />

Integrated Test Data Management<br />

<strong>PAtools</strong> incorporates an integrated test data management including<br />

a web interface for corporate-wide data access to testing<br />

results. Now the testing engineer is not any longer forced<br />

to meticulously file his data in error-prone and time consuming<br />

manual proceedings.<br />

<strong>PAtools</strong> automatically indexes all test results and files this information<br />

as “meta data” in the integrated test data management<br />

system. By means of structured and common search criteria,<br />

the test results can be retrieved, manipulated and forwarded for<br />

further processing to other departments and systems through<br />

a corporate-wide, web-based portal. For long-term storage,<br />

<strong>PAtools</strong> can be interconnected to archiving sys tems of leading<br />

suppliers via certified interfaces.<br />
