The collection of Pycnogonids brought from the Antarctic by the Discovery is alarge one, including as it does no less than twenty-eight species, three of which havebeen assigned to as many new genera. Only one species can be regarded as of morpho-logical importance, Pentanymplion antarcticum, which is now known to be abundantand to have a circumpolar distribution. Obgleich dabei ausdrücklich erwähnt wird : „habitat in mare norvegico sub lapidibus", kann es doch nichts anderes als die äusserliche Ähnlichkeit mit den eigentlichen Walfischläusen gewesen sein, was bei dem groszen Reformator, wie auch bei seinen Zeitgenossen Baster und Pallas den Gedanken an
