RM2H24TD5–A commemorative arch in the shape of four boomerangs in Bourke Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1954. It was erected to celebrate the Royal visit of Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Tour of the country. The imposing arch has an interesting design, with indigenous Aboriginal art topped with the royal crown (it would probably not be politically correct to mix the two in that way today). In front is an ‘atomic’ style hanging sculpture/mobile. The same arch was first used in Sydney for the Queen’s visit to that city. It was then swiftly moved to Melbourne – a vintage 1950s photograph.
