RM2GTAEG9–A 1960s advert for man-made fabrics Terylene and Crimplene in the home. The advert appeared in a magazine published in the UK in October 1962. The photograph shows a mother and two young children with the fabrics used in bedding and rugs. The textiles were popular in the 1960s and 70s but better man-made fibres and natural fibres later became more popular. Terylene (or Dracon) is a synthetic polyester fibre with patent rights owned by chemical company ICI. Crimplene is a texturised fibre produced by modifying Terylene. ICI licensed the product to various companies – vintage 1960s graphics.
