RM2B6A52M–Albina, painting signs, December 27, 1976 Part of a series of photographs that a protest march to capture a group of Caribbean and Arawaks in late December 1976 in four days of their homes walked to the shore via Albina to Paramaribo. They asked their action with regard to their fundamental rights and the general position of the descendants of the original inhabitants of Suriname. In Paramaribo, they were received at the Presidential Palace by President J. Ferrier. The photographer was a friend of one of the initiators and walked with the mars. As 1st Governor of the Indies accusations of his tyranny and incompetence reached Spain . In 1500, the Crown had him removed as governor and he was arrested, and transported in chains back to Spain.
