Visitors observe the biology lab at The Burke Museum on October 9, 2019. The museum has 12 publicly-viewable labs and workrooms in where specimen preparation and research is done. The New Burke’s 113,000 sq ft facility will house its collection of 16 million artifacts and specimens, replacing the 60s-era building it had outgrown. The landmark natural history museum will open to the public on Saturday, October 12.
